Casa Del Toro — Restaurant in Amsterdam

The food was great. The meat was cooked perfectly. We ordered two meat dishes for 30 euros each. The portions were good. The cocktails were below average. I think it’s better to remove cocktails from the menu if you don’t have a professional bartender. The waitress (with dark hair) was very welcoming and friendly. She did her best to serve us well and make us feel welcome. The manager or the owner with curly hair seemed very strange to us. Was standing outside and smoking or drinking coffee. Couldn’t see him helping the staff although the restaurant was fully packed and understaffed. People were waiting for their food for a long time. Usually I would give one star less for service but I know what horeca is going through. All hotels and restaurants are understaffed. The waitresses (also the young girl with blonde hair) were very nice and friendly but the manager really surprised us and with his chill walking around and smoking. We asked for drinks menu and then he came and took it from us even without asking what we want to order. Would really recommend this place if you have large groups, such as school trips or university trips. They were so fantastic and accommodating, easy to book and food was delicious at very reasonable prices. We went twice as a group of 25 people (including vegans, vegetarians, GF and those with allergies) and they were brilliant. They could have accommodated us as a group twice, or three times that size. The location was perfect, an easy walk from central station and right by some of the Science museums we were visiting. We ordered lamb with fries, salad and a margarita cheese pizza for about 20 euros Pizza was also bad for 9 euros I expected more from an "Italian, Argentinian restaurant) But the lamb smelled like it was old and you could hardly chew it. Service 0/5 she didn't even ask how it tasted, I had to talk to her and say how bad it was. But she didn't care.

I usually say at the point what you could do better. But I say just give the restaurant a wide berth, especially if she says to come in like it was the case with us.
