Le Grand George — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Well, what shall i say. Epic location, good food, great atmosphere but also quite expensive and… here comes the kicker, the service is not good, I rate it low.

Went there last Friday for a quick business lunch, cost € 111 excluding tip.

The day before I asked for a nice table and when I arrived, inside was empty, only one table occupied.

We were directed to a small table iso a qubic which I asked for the day before. After some discussion I could sit there however the table wasn’t made clean. Spots all over the place.

After making a remark I was asked to sit somewhere else. Ok.

It took long before somebody came over to pick up the order and some other remarks I could made. Anyway

I paid, gave a tip and I received a questionnaire to review them which I did and wrote all the remarks.

Guess what? Nothing happened 🤦‍♂️🤷

I gave them the change to react before I go public, and if you don’t do, fair enough, I review you on Google.

On a positive note: the burger was good and the 5 glasses of Chardonnay...

What an incredible experience! Le Grand George is a modern French bistro that truly gets everything right. The interior is absolutely stunning — stylish, warm, and welcoming, with a sophisticated atmosphere that makes you want to stay all night.

The service was just as impressive. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food and hospitality. It really elevated the whole experience.

The menu offers so many amazing choices that I honestly struggled to decide — so many French classics, all sounding delicious. I finally went with the Beef Wellington and was blown away. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. One of the best I’ve ever had.

We stopped at this charming café while waiting for our train at Amsterdam Zuid. Unfortunately, the service was very slow—they took a long time to take our order and an even longer time to bring the bill. We were charged for bread and butter that were never served, and we later realized we had been overcharged for items we didn’t order.
