I found this hotel on groupon and from the moment we got there I knew we had gotten a very good deal as the area was very nice and modern in the financial business area of Amsterdam with plenty of nearby cafes and bars and restaurants in close proximity but most of all the public transport network was also right there so you were never really too far from anything in this beautiful city. We were welcomed by a pleasant young lady who checked us in and answered any questions we had and then guided us to where our room was. The hotel was very clean and easy to get around. We found our room on the 4th floor and it was really nice. The bathrooms now have doors (something I read they previously didn't) however they don't close properly which is not ideal if you like a little more privacy but we weren't bothered by this. The shower was amazing one of the best I've been in and there was plenty of shower gel and soap here which I really wasn't expecting. The one minor issue is because it's an open plan shower the water does go all over the floor so it can be a little slippery so we just put a towel on the floor. The sink basin was really big and nice however it did creek when I leant on it and probably could do with some maintenance. The sink did also leak some water onto the shelf below where the toilet roll and towels were which wasn't great but as soon as I told reception they got it sorted for when we come back and the leak had gone. The bed was very big and comfortable although there was only one pillow each it was still a really nice bed and although there's no headboard this was not an issue as we were only there for sleeping really. The tv was a very nice one and was attached to the ceiling however we didn't use it much as busy doing other things but when I did some little browsing I couldn't really find much in English however like I said I didn't look much so there could be more channels in English. There was no windows in our room which some people might not like but there is a reason for this and I actually thought it was a good thing for the type of trip we were on as there was no sunlight coming through the windows waking you up early and also no noises from outside which was perfect for me personally as I am only sleeping and cleaning myself there so I don't really want windows distracting me and also waking me up with light and noise. The reason for this is to stop people smoking out the windows and also people jumping out as it's 17 stories high so quite high. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel however it is available if you book the night before check their website for prices. We did try tea and coffee from reception which was really nice and they let you take up to your room which is good as there's no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but once again no problem as can get it from downstairs. Most nights we got back late and there was nowhere near to get a meal if we hadn't eaten properly but again not a problem as you can order off uber eats and the reception will let you know when it comes. If like us you forgot your plug adapter don't worry as they have them in reception to use which again is something I wasn't expecting. Finally if you have a later flight or feel like you need more time you can request a later check out time which is charged by the hour if available and is another good thing that came in handy for us. There's only a few minor things that could be improved for me one would be to have a phone in the room to call reception and them call you if needed also a mini fridge would've been nice as we would buy a drink at night from reception but by the morning it would be warm so not ideal but again not a major issue. To summarise although I have mentioned some minor issues this hotel was perfect for us and all of the staff were friendly and helpful and although I know the real cost of this hotel was treble what I paid I will definitely be trying to get a room here before anywhere else when I next visit Amsterdam as it was the perfect base for our stay....
Read moreI stayed at Qbic hotel in October for 3 nights, At first I had trouble with payment but there helpful staff were quick to resolve this problem and there communication was great considering time differences and language barriers. The room was a great price. The hotel was easy to find from schilphol airport, as the trains depart from the airport. There are sprinter trains to Amsterdam Zuid station approximately 7 min train ride from the airport and its brings you straight out to the WTC's lovely tall glass buildings, you leave the station through the exit nearest to the burger king and the hotel is on your right (2 min walk) and can also be accessed from going inside the building, check in was done via a computer and was relatively easy (make sure u print off your confirmation and bring it with you as you will need either your card you paid with or reference number) we was situated on floor 2 which was difficult to find as the lift didn't have a "2" but another lodger pointed out if you pressed exit button it will take you there. There was no staff around at this time and the hotel is quite private. Whenever I saw the staff they always seemed to be cleaning which is always nice to see. The corridors to the rooms had a nice lighting effect. I has messaged the hotel prior to the visit as it was my girlfriends birthday and they had managed to decorate the room with balloons and streamers and provided us with complimentary glass of red wine each. the room was a nice size, the lighting was great and the wallpaper was great to look at. Rather funky hotel. Only thing that was strange was there wasn't a door on the bathroom but there are toilets in the hall which are lovely and clean. to get to dam square there is a tram every 15 mins or so (number 5) takes about 10/15 mins to get to central, taxis cost about 16-21 euros. There is a Starbucks, burger king and a few restaurants and shops in and around the WTC building ad vending machines in the lobby. Also as you come in to the hotel lobby there is a stand with various discounts to numerous attractions these are great and make sure you take advantage of them!! Great value for money and very fun to come back to! Not central but an ample distance and transport is great. ...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Qbic Hotel in Amsterdam was mixed, characterized by exceptionally friendly staff but significantly below-par room quality and cleanliness.||The Only Real Positive: The Staff||If there is one area where this hotel truly shines, it is its personnel. Every member of staff I interacted with was very friendly and welcoming, which made the check-in and common area interactions pleasant. They are a real asset to the hotel.||Design and Atmosphere||The physical appearance of the hotel is generally underwhelming. While the lobby is adequate, the rest of the hotel—particularly the corridors—is functional but fails to offer any sense of welcome or warmth.||The Room: Major Issues with Cleanliness and Maintenance||The most important part of any hotel is the room, and unfortunately, this is where the Qbic falls short. While the room size itself was really large, the overall quality and maintenance were below average.||Cleanliness: The room was not clean at all and is in urgent need of refurbishment. I found noticeable dirty spots on the wall in the bathroom, indicating a severe lack of decent deep cleaning. The towels were also extremely worn, thin, and uncomfortable.||Shower Design Flaw: The shower created a significant issue: the bathroom would transform into a swimming pool every time I used it. The hotel did not provide a floor towel, which made this design flaw even more frustrating.||Noise/View: My room faced the highway. While a highway view wasn't a bother, the constant sound of cars rushing by was a major problem. In the end, I required earplugs to sleep comfortably, which is not what you expect from a decent hotel stay.||Note: I did not eat breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the food service.||Overall Conclusion||The Qbic Hotel Amsterdam has wonderful staff, but the core product—the rooms—is not currently fit for purpose and desperately requires refurbishment and professional deep cleaning. Based on the condition of the room and the noise issues, I cannot recommend this hotel until significant maintenance...
