I have been to this Breakfast Club twice now, and will not be returning. Both times I went with the same friend and had a poor experience.
During the most recent visit, we ordered drinks when we arrived, and waited almost 25 minutes for 2 coffees. We ordered egg dishes and both added avocado (which costs 2euro extra). When the meals arrived, neither had avocado (fine, these things happen). But by the time the waitress finally returned, we told her that the avocado was missing and she offered to take it back to the kitchen to add it. However, by this time our dishes were already cold so we said "no thank you, but please be sure to remove it from the bill."
We ate our meals, which lacked in flavor and presentation. During our meal, the table behind us actually got up to leave because they had only received half of their meals and were tired of waiting. It's a shame that the restaurant still made them pay. Several other customers actually had to come up to the bar to ask if they could "please order as they had been waiting for a long time for any service" during our meal. We ate at the bar so we witnessed a lot of this activity. The staff seemed unbothered by the customers' dissatisfaction.
The waitress later came by and said she took our coffees off of the bill in order to compensate for the missing avocado. We thought that was a fair gesture, given the extraordinary wait time for the drinks anyway, and went on with visiting. When we went to leave, another waitress gave us the bill and brought the machine to pay. There was a misunderstanding as one coffee was still on the bill, and we thought both were being removed. Instead of removing the extra avocado on the bill, they removed one coffee (which was actually worth less than the added orders of avocados), as this was "more convenient" for them. When my friend said, in a friendly manner, "Oh, we got the impression that our drinks were free", the waitress decided to argue with her, and was rude and dismissive. In addition she said "yeah well [the waitress] offered to bring you the avocado anyway and you didn't want it so uhhhh yeah this is fair" ... and walked away (with no "goodbye" ... or "have a nice day"). My friend reminded her that it's not nice to get into an argument with a customer and then we left.
This experience just mimicked the first where the staff were also rude, greeting us with a disinterested "what do you want?" and extremely long wait times.
Of course mishaps occur at restaurants all of the time, but it's all about the way the staff handles it/treats their customers. The staff still needs to be trained in this, I think.
As the title says, don't waste your time (or money!) There are far better breakfast/brunch restaurants...
Read moreI came here with a friend around 13:30 on the 1st of January. The place seemed quite busy with food orders so we were informed it will take longer to get the food but that we can have some drinks in the meantime. We waited for 20 minutes to get our drink order taken and for another 15 for it to arrive (incomplete).
Food came after around an hour but this was okay as we were told about it before. I had a london breakfast. Mushrooms didnt taste fresh, bacon seemed like it was not cooked to order as well and the eggs were completely overcooked. My friend had poached eggs that came out as hard-boiled.
As then in an almost empty restaurant, no one came to check how the food was, I had to call a waiter, explained the issue with the eggs and asked for new plates for both me and my friend.
New food came rather quickly, in around 10 minutes, eggs were done nicely this time, however chef decided to use other things that were left on the plate (toast, bacon, sausage, beans...) Consequently, everything else was stone cold.
Again, no one came to check how the food is and as I didnt want to cause a drama I decided to just finish and go.
No apology was offered whatsoever, no compensation, and the chef was looking very angry when he had to re-do the eggs. The food would have actually been quite decent if they had some pride to look at the plates sent to guests and actually cared about what...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at The Breakfast Club Zuid. I don’t even mind that my food never arrived—mistakes happen—but the attitude of one staff member completely ruined my visit.
I waited for an hour, only to realize my order was never even in the system. In the meantime, I was freezing because the door was open, so I politely asked a kind waitress if it was okay to close it. She agreed and closed it for me. A few minutes later, a male staff member started yelling at her for doing so, saying it was too hot inside. She looked so uncomfortable and ended up asking me to move upstairs, which I did.
By the time I realized my food still hadn’t arrived, an hour had passed. When I asked about my order, I found out it hadn’t even been placed. I left both hungry and upset—not just because of the mistake, but because a staff member was treated so poorly in front of customers.
I used to be a regular at The Breakfast Club, but this was my first time at the Zuid branch. Safe to say, it will also be my last. I hope management prioritizes not just good service for customers, but also respect among...
