My friend and I were passing by this cafe just after 5 PM on Saturday (28/06). We hadn't checked the closing time online, and there were no signs or notices indicating when the cafe closes.
I placed an order for a coffee and a Cruffin at around 5:10 PM at the counter, paid the money, and was told to wait on the side to collect the order. Fast forward to 5:32 PM (a good 25 minutes later), the same staff member who took my order, asked me again: what my order was. She then pointed me to a takeaway paper cup that I had no idea was the coffee I ordered, and I had to then ask: "Can I also have the Cruffin that I paid for?".
While discussing a few things with this person, like "why the takeaway cups?" and the delay etc, I genuinely asked if it was because they intend to close soon. Out of nowhere, without any context, another staff member aggressively stormed to the counter, interrupted our conversation, and abruptly yelled: "We closed like 20 mins ago. You should be grateful that we still took your order." She then quickly ran away.
I was honestly shocked, trying to process such a unprovoked outburst. There were other customers there who were equally stunned. I did not understand why they took my order if it was soo inconvenient and importantly I cannot grasp how they were doing me a favor by taking my order. It was a baffling display of entitlement from this person.
While I understand people can have bad days, behaving violently and attempting to gaslight others is unacceptable. There was absolutely no need for such hostile reaction, particularly after I tried to empathize with the situation. Overall, I felt compelled to share this because it was terribly distressing for me. I sincerely hope that no one else has to go through this kind of...
Read moreThe place has a very nice play area for kids and the coffee is OK if you don't look at the price. The food is not bad, maybe a bit small portions. The personnel though will likely make you lose the good mood you might have had before entering the place, just dull and/or ignorant and the service can be awkward and slow despite the place not being crowded. This can be seen in some other reviews / comments as well.
It's a bit difficult to pinpoint things precisely but you know when you are in a place with a good service and attentive employees who might even make your day slightly better - this is not such a place. Might be though that they are not very experienced in customer facing work, so the general attitude (?) and the feeling left from interaction can indeed be improved!
Visited here multiple times and will continue to come again because it's very close and the kids like the play area. Looking towards improvement and that's why I leave the not so good review (which I...
Read moreI went to Lilo’s today for a matcha, walking in the atmosphere was chaotic (children screaming, which is understandable since it’s catered to kids but still) and unfriendly. I walked up to the counter and said “hi” but the two employees looked right past me. Maybe they were distracted, don’t know.
I continued to order two matchas and the whole interaction felt awkward. I waited for a bit and was handed two very mediocre matchas, non-ceremonial grade, that tastes exactly like they looked, all that for 13€ (6.50 per matcha).
Would be a lovely place if you have kids, but I would stick to a simple coffee and maybe a pastry. But if you’re looking for a chill place to sit, I wouldn’t...
