When we arrived, there was a long queue, which we thought must be a good sign… we were right! We read the menu whilst we queued, which had a wide range of sweet and savoury pancakes/crepes. We really were spoilt for choice! We were soon seated and our food and drinks were ordered. Be aware that at busy times, you may be seated outside due to limited indoor seating, but luckily for us, it was a sunny morning. The view from the cafe was beautiful too. The interior and exterior were kept clean and tidy and Pancakes Amsterdam merchandise was available for purchase. Pancakes Amsterdam was recommended as gluten-free friendly. The waiter accommodated for my friend’s dietary requirements and her food arrived with a Netherland’s flag to signify the gluten-free dish. We enjoyed the bacon and maple syrup and bacon and apple pancakes with coffee. We will definitely return on our next visit to Amsterdam!

This was recommended to us by a friend so we were super excited to try it! Literally arrived in Amsterdam and went here straight away from the Central Station. The food was okay. Halfway through my meal I found some hair on my plate so I did not finish it. I asked for the bill from a waiter and when he brought it I pointed out that there was some hair in my food. He replied: "Tbh, I don't care. I am happy to take it off your bill but I have to check with my manager." So I just said sure. My intention wasn't to have it removed from my bill that's why I had asked for the bill without pointing it out beforehand. He went and spoke with the manager a lady with very long hair and heavy makeup. And even though not understanding the language and what was communicated it was very clear from her tone, body language and facial expression she wasn't happy. He came back and told us that she refused to take it off the bill because I have eaten the food. I plainly told him that I will pay for it. I only pointed it out because it is a matter of hygiene. Being an experienced hospitality worker myself, my issue with them isn't the just the hair but how they dealt with the situation. It would have sufficed if they had apologize sincerely which they didn't and we were met with such hostility when leaving the restaurant. For the price, quality of food & service we paid. This place deserves 1 star. It definitely has potential if they are more mindful with their hygiene and train the staffs better.

I fondly recall my visit to Pancakes Amsterdam back in 2017 as a delightful culinary experience, so much so that it ranked as one of the best spots in the city. Eager to relive that joy, I made it a point to return upon my latest trip to Amsterdam. Regrettably, this visit did not live up to my cherished memories. The pancakes themselves still hit some of the right notes, (We ordered #8 and #12). However, the coffee left much to be desired and failed to meet the standard one would expect from such an establishment. Service was passable, but an apparent lack of training was evident when it came to distinguishing between filter coffee and espresso – a basic yet crucial piece of knowledge for anyone in the food and beverage industry. While the atmosphere inside remains pleasant, the charm is somewhat overshadowed by the ongoing construction just outside the entrance, which detracts from the overall ambiance. It's also worth noting that the prices have seen a considerable hike, jumping from €9 to €16, which is a steep increase by any measure. In the past, I would have enthusiastically recommended Pancakes Amsterdam to anyone visiting the city. However, with the latest changes, I find myself hesitant to do so. The market is abundant with other venues that offer better value and quality, making it harder to justify a return to Pancakes Amsterdam at their current standing.

Went to have brunch with my friends, really disappointed with the quality of the food. Could be classified as tourist trap. Location is really good, right in front of the central station, easy to find and relatively great view. Service is fine. The waiting time is about 30 minutes, A bit understaffed in my point of view. But the waiters are willing to solve the problems when it occurs. Food is disappointing. We ordered three dishes. Two dutch pancakes and one American pancakes. The dutch pancakes are cooked fine. The strawberries are fresh, the whipped cream is more supermarket bottled quality rather than restaurant quality. The apple crumble is way too sweet, overal would be mid quality food. More of a streetfood cart quality rather than restaurant quality. The American pancakes dish is a disaster. Pancakes tasted a bit burned, the bitter taste of burned pancakes covered up whatever it should taste like. The bacon are burnt, like charcoal, I showed the waiter the bacon, he brought a new portion but still with more than half of the new portion is burned and not eatable. You could probably find better pancakes with better price and preparation elsewhere. I think the price is fine for the location, but foodwise, Red flag. Do not recommend.

Wouldn’t recommend going to Pancakes Amsterdam. Reason as to why: - LONG WAIT IN LINE •waited 20 minutes only to be told that if we wanted to sit outside we could take a seat. The seats had been free since we began lining up. - NOT HYGIENIC • Birds were crawling all over the tables stealing food from plates and harassing customers. One bird even knocked over a bowl of cream which completely covered myself and multiple others. - EXPENSIVE • expected as it is a very touristy place - LOADS OF BEES • We had a lot of bees landing in our drinks and on our food. - POOR SERVICE • Reason one ties into this too. Along with the fact that we asked for our bill and waited 15 minutes and then had to ask another person because the person we originally asked didn’t get it for us. - CANT SPLIT BILL OR PAY CASH • we were told there was no splitting of bills and we couldn’t pay cash. A larger group of 8 sitting next to us also asked to split the bill and was told that they couldn’t either but they could pay cash but not receive any change. Absolute scam. I’ve posted photos to go along with my review for proof. My reviews are always fair and honest and I’m not just complaining. This is my honest opinion (check my account for proof on other reviews)
