My Experience at Omelegg in Amsterdam
If you love eggs and delicious breakfast, Omelegg is the perfect place for you! The restaurant has a cozy, farm-style design with wooden tables and cute decorations like chicken figurines and hanging baskets. It feels warm and friendly inside.
Fresh and Tasty Food!
Everything is made fresh in front of you. The open kitchen lets you see the chefs cooking quickly and professionally. • Shakshuka - €17.50 One of the best shakshukas I have tried! The tomato sauce is rich, the eggs are perfectly cooked, and the brown seeded bread is crunchy and tasty. • Croissant with Scrambled Eggs & Cheese (Scrambilicious) - €12.50 + Avocado €3.50 The croissant is fresh and crispy, the scrambled eggs are soft and creamy, and the cheese melts beautifully. The avocado makes it even better! • Latte Macchiato - €4.00 The coffee is smooth with creamy foam and a perfect balance between milk and espresso. • Espresso - €3.00 A strong espresso shot for a great morning energy boost! • Sparkling Water - €2.50 A simple but refreshing drink to go with breakfast.
Fast and Great Service
The most surprising thing? The food arrived in less than 5 minutes! Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was super fast.

Read moreAs a huge omelette fan, most of my omelette encounters have been at hotel breakfast buffets — decent, but nothing to write home about. So when I heard about Omelegg, a restaurant entirely dedicated to omelettes, my curiosity was instantly piqued. Let me just say… coming here was one of the best dining decisions I’ve ever made.
I ordered the “Farm Boy”, and wow — it lives up to its name. Perfectly cooked, fluffy, and generously packed with all sorts of goodness — bacon, veggies, and more. The portion was massive, easily enough for two people. But since I arrived hungry and ready, I devoured the whole thing without hesitation.
The place was fully packed when I arrived at 2.30pm, so I had to wait across the street on a tiny lane, surrounded by curious passers-by wondering why I was standing there. Thankfully, the wait was only about 20 minutes, and as soon as a table opened up, I was warmly welcomed inside.
Omelegg serves omelettes all day from 7am-4pm Mon-Fri, and 8am-4pm Sat and Sun, so you can enjoy these incredible dishes from morning until mid-afternoon. I spent about half an hour here, and every minute was worth it. Omelegg isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a full experience. I’ll definitely be coming back on my next trip...

It was literally colder inside than outside. They seated me directly in front of the door AND directly under the AC. When I asked for a different seat, not in the wind, she closed the door for a moment. Then she opened it again immediately. I asked again for a different table and was moved to the table farthest from the door. It was still cold and windy. I was hungry, so I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon, with tomato on the side. I was told tomato is only served inside the eggs and cannot be ordered on the side (???!!!). Fine. No tomato then. The eggs come with salad. I looked around, and every plate had tomato with the salad except mine (???!!!). The food was fine, and arrived quickly, but on a cold (of course) plate, and was (of course) cold after just a few bites. Look at the photo. People are wearing coats, scarves, and hats inside the place. One woman was trying to eat with mittens on. ...At least the...
