Located at the top end of Warmoestraat, just a few steps from Chinatown's Zeedijk, Chinese Surinamese restaurant Kam Yin opened its doors in 1980. The first arrival of Chinese immigrants to Suriname, a former Dutch colony, dates back to 1853. Today, they form the country's largest ethnic community and account for around two percent of the population. The fusion of Chinese and Surinamese cuisine is often referred to as Surinees and has become very popular in the Netherlands. The restaurant's most popular dish is Moksi Meti, mixed meat served with rice, roti or noodles, accompanied by hot sauces made from Madam Jeanette peppers. Other favourites include Peking Duck, Tjauw Min, Tjap Tjoy, Roti and Szechuan dishes. There are also a number of Indonesian inspired dishes such as Saoto Soup, Satay, GadoGado and Babi Panggang. The spacious restaurant has its own en-suite takeaway which also offers a wide selection of Surinamese sandwiches and snacks such as salted cod, telo, pom, bojo and baka bana. Although not offering high-end cuisine, Kam Yin's prices are extremely reasonable with generous size portions, making it one of the most popular choices for delivery services such as Thuisbezordt and Uber Eats.

Kam Yin: A Must-Try in Amsterdam! If you're looking for fantastic Chinese-Surinamese food in Amsterdam, Kam Yin is an absolute gem. I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I was thoroughly impressed. First off, the food is delicious. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor, expertly prepared, and incredibly satisfying. Beyond the taste, the portions are generously sized, so you'll definitely leave feeling full. What's even better is that all of this comes at a fair price, offering excellent value for money. The service was attentive and friendly, making for a very pleasant dining experience. They were quick to assist and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself boasts a spacious dining area, so you won't feel cramped, even during busier times. Whether you're craving authentic Chinese-Surinamese flavors or just looking for a delicious and affordable meal in Amsterdam, Kam Yin is a top recommendation. You won't be disappointed!

KAM YIN SURINAMESE CHINESE RESTAURANT "Kam Yin started in 1980 as a small eatery at the bustling corner of Zeedijk in Amsterdam at that time. The name 'Kam Yin' means golden swallow in Chinese and originates from the names of the owners; a Surinamese Chinese couple with a great passion for cooking. As Surinamese Chinese, or Surinamese for short, we have become a household name in Amsterdam and its surroundings. You are welcome at our current locations on Warmoesstraat and in Amsterdamse Poort to enjoy Surinamese Chinese dishes such as tjauw min, moksie meti, roti, and tjap tjoy. We also offer a wide range of filled Surinamese sandwiches and various snacks, such as salted cod sandwich, pom sandwich, telo, bojo, fried plantain, and much more." The food I sampled there was delicious, and the staff was also very friendly, making it a wonderful experience.

Horrible experience! Avoid here ! Ordered takeaway 4 x number 52 very simple order ! 4 of the same thing ! We live in lelystad picked this up after a day in Amsterdam to heat up once home. Got home and all 4 dishes the wrong thing ! When The i called the lady actually remembered me and remembered that she indeed did make a mistake charging me for what i ordered but told kitchen wrong thing ! There is even writting on my reciept becausee she put the wrong code but corrected it with pen ( in non english) but corrected it to something else wrong ! Called recieved the option to come back now with the old food and get the correct food or a refund of €6 in the future (only the difference of the dish we ordered and dish we received). No compensation for the fact we didn't want nor order this food ! We can not travel 2 hours with the old food to replace on your mistake ! They even admitted they made the mistake that they remembered my order and that it was made incorrectly. Perhaps if the staff were less interested in ignoring customwrs and chatting during taking orders they wpuld not make incorrect orders ! I declined both options as 6 euro isn't worth the time of day to travel back to amsterdam ! Won't return. Also at service stood at the counter while staff chatted for a good 5 mins before assisting with the order ! Poor experience all around and the chicken we did not order was dry and disappointing, so we ended up not eating the chicken. So we essentially paid €44 to eat 4 x only bami as bami was in our original order just not with the chicken ! They obviously planed to resell the old food i would return as i offered to freeze it and return it on a day i could get back to amsterdam but they declined this and said i must bring it today for refund so I would not trust this place with food ! Who knows where it's been when they are asking ppl to return it today they are 1000 % reheating this to resell ! People could do anything to that food and...

Have previously vitiated and the good was good however on our latest visit the food was okay but the service was terrible. We visited with our 7 year old and 20 month old. It took over 5 minutes for them to bring a high chair to the table. We were served quickly initially but once the food was put on the table we didn't get any more contact until the plates were cleared. It then took over 30 minutes before we decided that although we were still waiting for the waitress to ask about dessert and bring the icecrean for the children 's menus she proceed to ignore us. We had had enough by this point as every attempt to get her attention failed. In the end we got ready to go and went to the till where she was not happy about us asking for discount for the kids Icecream which they didn't have but was included in their meal. She reluctantly gave us the ice cream in cups to takeaway and wanted full price for very thing. Her reason for us not getting the icecrean sooner was that we had to ask for it. Not sure how when she didn't come back to out table despite us trying to get her attention. I don't think they are bothered about repeat custom as so many tourists pass through theirs doors who will never go back. Would not...
