UPDATED 20230112&20230223
Ramen Kingdom is still going strong in the Ramen game in Amsterdam! I remember the time when they just opened till now.... and it is BUSY everyday it seems T.T Because they already made their name known in this city, that its quite difficult to get a seat without waiting outside in the rain or long line! Cost of inflation is recognizable x.x but still worth the money for a delicious bowl of rich brothy ramen! Try it out if you haven't already!
btw love the new Chopper on the wall =)
Update 20210925 Recommendation: EVERY RAMEN 4REAL!
Just when you think you tried/had it all and they come with a spicy concept or the double-spice. The spice does linger at your palate so consider twice before taking the spice 2x. My last order was the spice chicken ramen + roast chicken.
They also regularly change their art in the restaurant which is quite amusing to look at. (Now its One Piece!)
Update 20200807 Still the best experience troughout Amsterdam,, little adjustments have been made to make it easier to order. There are two machines to order you fav ramen and they put boards in between the sitting areas as you can only sit at the bar at the moment.
UPDATE 20200725 Had an amazing experience again at Ramen Kingdom! I am gratefull that they managed to open again for to eat in because this little gem in Amsterdam is something you dont want to miss out on!
TIP: If you order EXTRA noodles leave some soup in your bowl =)
*The Ramen broth of this place is really amazing! Its so savory and rich in taste, its convenient walking from Amsterdam Central Station because its really closeby. The spicy pork is really tasty and thats also the case for the vegetarian broth. There isnt that many seats inside, but the vibe it gives is really authentic and the staff greets you very enthusiastic (in Japanese). When you walk in you choose what you want from the menu and pay before hand with card and there is on the right side of the entrance cute toys from Japan that you can roll out the toy machines
Read moreI walked into this place around 9:00 pm earlier today. Companion and I ordered a bowl of ramen to share. After we paid, guy at the counter points to a poster on the wall with "restaurant rules" in a tiny font saying, "Bowls cannot be shared, each bowl gets one seat."
Now, this rule is ridiculous, since most ramen places happily do a split bowl. The counter guy made us takeaway the ramen, even though there were empty seats inside. We'd asked him earlier if we could eat inside and he said yes, we could until 9:30. But we couldn't be served because we ordered just one bowl.
So we waited outside in the cold for our order for 15 minutes, and we now had a takeaway bag of ramen and no place to eat it. We ate it hours later back at our Airbnb, and the noodles were clumpy in a way only instant noodles can clump up. I'd venture a guess that they're using instant noodles.
While the counter guy was polite and apologetic, the customer service was unacceptable.
To the management: please allow paying customers to eat inside the restaurant if there is seating available. Also, allow customers to split a bowl if they want to. Most ramen places do this. I don't usually read each word on a poster in a restaurant, and Amsterdam has a lot of restaurants, so you can't expect people to read a poster on your wall before ordering their food.
Customer service better be impeccable if you're charging €20 per bowl of ramen, which is the most expensive meal I've had in Amsterdam in my entire trip. You can do better, guys, if you claim to be "the best...
Read moreThe shop closed at 9:00 p.m. and when I arrived at 8:20 p.m. , there are a long queue (around 20 people waiting to get inside), the turnover of the shop is quite slowly and I changed to do Take away, even there are just 2 take away orders before mine, it takes 30 mins to get a ramen take away....
Suggest to dine in inside as the take away time is same as waiting time, I saw the last customer come at 8:20 also can get in at 8:50...
The noodles is not the traditional Japanese Ramen, they are using a thinner noodles, the taste of the soup is nearly the standard of Japanese Ramen, but I think this shop is not for people looking for traditional Ramen, I guess they changes the taste a bit to fit for the local. As the traditional Pork Ramen, you can smell the pork and the pork bone (in Canontese/ Chinese: 豬骨味) , but for this Ramen, you cannot smell or taste it....
Also, It is quite expensive (EUR 20 for a Ramen...) , lucky they open in AMS ....
Also, please note that it is not a kid/ elderly friendly restaurant, there are only 3 chairs putting outside.. and I saw a family of 5 (3 adults + 2kids, around 4 -5 years old), the little girl is tried and sit on the chair for waiting,... then the staff ask them to stand in a line == her mum just need to carrying the nearly fall asleep little girl and leave the chair empty for nothing == I hope people can be...
