We had made a reservation for the Stork Restaurant that was previously located where this new Lowlander Botanical Bar and Restaurant was. We were informed around March that the restaurant changed and whether we would like to keep our reservation but had no information about the menu so decided to go with it. The location really is great. The staff was very polite. However this place does not offer an actual restaurant menu. It is divided by time of servings which is very confusing. Once you decide to pick out something from each category to make it at least seem like a normal restaurant menu, you come to realize there is only one salad, one soup, and nothing to serve as an appetizer. Having a club sandwich for lunch is not actual food. It is having a snack for lunch. I tried to explain it to the waitress - she said well you can have kebab. Giving one option for actual food is not what a restaurant should be like. There were some good options for dinner which were not served at the time we visited ( 2pm), they probably could have saved the day if they were served throughout the day. Appetizers, salads, soups, main courses, desserts, drinks. That is the type of menu that makes a place a restaurant. Anything less is just a snack bar. Unfortunately, we left in search for another restaurant so we have no opinion of the taste of the...
Read moreFood: DO NOT COME HERE FOR A MEAL. The bar part is decent, lots of options. Food is NOT GOOD! My steak was criminally under-salted and my girlfriend’s salmon portion was so insanely small I genuinely thought they messed up and gave us an appetizer. Actually still upset about this because 16.5 euros for 4 tiny slivers of salmon and 2 very sad radish bulbs with a premade sauce is inexcusable. We went straight to Dirks to grab some grocery store food because our meal at lowlander was so terrible
Service: a tad bit slow but to be fair it was super busy and it was one chap serving EVERYONE. He did a great job nonetheless and was super friendly as well. I say 4/5 here because the restaurant could maybe have more staff so that one guy isn’t working 100 tables.
Atmosphere: the only good selling point of this restaurant and it’s only really worth anything in good weather. This week has been beautiful sunny weather so the music and decoration combined with a nice canal view and sunny day was great. Genuinely the only reason I didn’t throw a fit and send the salmon back was because the weather was so great and we were outdoors enjoying it.
Overall, I see the appeal for a drink or two. But I will die on this, DO NOT GET THE FOOD! It is overpriced appetizers...
Read moreThis was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was completely inedible the steak was chewy, under seasoned, and somehow both soggy and dry at the same time. The drinks, tasted like medicine, and watered down just plain nasty. I honestly couldn’t tell what I was drinking and i’m not even sure how you mess a drink up.
As for the service, it was just as bad. Our server seemed annoyed to even be there, we never got plates for the appetizers, I asked for water twice and it took 30 minutes to get it, and we were never once checked on, I had to get up and go hunt the server or yell to get their attention to ask for anything, and the whole vibe felt careless and unprofessional. The place is in a really sketchy rear warehouse as well, Beware.
I usually never bother to write one star reviews and this was a place I highly thought deserved it. Save yourself, there are plenty of better places that actually make good food and care about...
