Malabar Amsterdam — Restaurant in Amsterdam

View: 4/5 Service: 2/5 Drinks: 3/5 Food: 1/5 The view was really nice. You get to see the Amsterdam skyline and modern interior design etc. Both drinks we ordered felt like they put way too much syrup. Too artificial. I think they need to improve their service. First, they gave us the wrong food so he said you guy can enjoy the food. Then, when our food is here, he took away the plate that we were already eating. I mean, aren’t you supposed to leave both of them? It’s just really awkward for a start hotel to do it, or maybe the manager is just being dutch so he can serve the food again to others? Kind of disgusting when you think of it but who knows. Both of the food were both below average by the way. Also, my friend’s phone battery is dying. I can’t believe they don’t have place for you to charge your phone. Even when we asked, they just simply answered, no we don’t have charger for Apple, sorry. What a disappointment! First of, nobody noticed us at the door. Had to wait 15 min to be seated. What a great welcome 👎🏼. They placed us upstairs, it didn’t feel cozy or comfortable to be there. So we asked to get a table downstairs, the waiter fully forgot about us, we had to remind him again! Service was very slow, it felt like they didn’t have anything under control. Although it wasn’t that busy. It took them 25 min to come to our table to get our order after we asked them to come. In total we waited an hour for them to take an order and get our first drink. We were not the only once that waited. We saw a lot of guests trying to make a eye contact with the service. Finally, after an hour the drinks arrived. Later, we asked for water, even for that we had to wait for because the waiter forgot. Don’t know what was wrong with the water but it tasted very weird! Obnoxious, incompetent staff.

My bf and I were there tonight. The evening started fine. We arrived at the place and the host seated us between the window & the bar. View is good & we had our first cocktail in 15mins. The cocktails were way too sweet for my & my bf’s taste. Anyway, we thought we made a wrong choice and wanted to ask the host for another one that is less sweet. For approx. 45 minutes we tried to get attention from the host but he seems to completely ignore us. Eventually we decided to just leave & pay. The host then made a long pause hoping we’d add a tip to the bill. When we didn’t, he started obviously shaking his head. He then refused to make eye contact or say another sentence to us, and just walked away. Which had me confusedly waiting for a good few seconds as I’d expected a “would you like the receipt” or “have a nice evening” at the least.
