“I liked this more than 11 Madison”

Although the standard for vegan fare reviews needs to move beyond being acceptable for “non-vegans”, this place certainly accomplished that.

There were five of us (with 3 “non-vegans”) and we basically ordered everything to share. The Caesar salad was phenomenal and the chicken pie was a hit. The risotto was so good that my brother reached for his Lactaid and I gently assured him that he’d be fine without it. He later said, “I like this better than Eleven Madison” (which is the highest rated vegan restaurant in NYC). In fact, throughout the meal the “non-vegans” kept saying that they would eat this regularly or that, “you can’t even really tell” as if somehow plant-based food is kind of lie you’re being told. And, in their defense, plant-based food does do a lot of “air quotes” and faux jokes.

We also got the Bouillabaisse (which was awesome, but not ideal for sharing), the cheeseburger, asparagus, potatoes, and aubergine (eggplant) dip. We only stopped eating cause we were stuffed. But ordered the crème brûlée and cake for dessert anyway. That went quickly too.

The staff was friendly and the bar tender had the best attitude with my brother trying to learn Dutch and then sending back his “martini”. The vibe was casual, but the atmosphere was more upscale than expected. In general, I’m finding that service is much slower than I’m accustomed to in the “United States” and that cocktail culture has yet to make its way to Europe.

I gave 5 stars because I had such a good time and was relieved that my party was so happy in the end. If you go in expecting 4 stars, I’m confident you’ll be more...

I enjoyed most of the food I ordered, but the staff weren’t very attentive. Whenever I wanted to get one’s attention I had to really try and i had to try various times when they walked in my direction and unless I physically called out once or twice, i couldn’t get their attention. I didn’t even get one come up sometimes to say ‘how’s the food’ or ‘is everything okay’, they did come up to the party of like 6 next to me many times though 😅….

When I told the Asian lady stuff member (I don’t know her name) that the crumbs on the Cauli Mac n cheese dug into the roof of my mouth and made my roof of mouth inflamed, it’s like she didn’t know what to say and she said she will let the chef know….. I felt very awkward even mentioning that I injured the top of my mouth from the food as she didn’t respond well to it or to try to rectify it, like giving me some kind of soft drink as a kindness or anything. -I also felt that I was judged by the Asian staff member lady, as I look very young and I went in on my own, it’s like maybe there was some vendetta or jealousy/bitterness that I have money to eat at this restaurant, as I’m only 26, but most people say I look 16-18!

The food was lovely apart from the Mac n cheese. It really hurt the roof of my mouth and other crunchy things they put in. I would of ordered desert also if it wasn’t for that injury.

I came to the Netherlands to work and had some rare time off to go out to eat, so I spend my hard earned money for that injury and not even some kind of kindness back, apart from ‘sorry, I will let...

Firstly, the atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. It has a trendy and modern vibe with a rustic touch. The dim lighting and warm ambiance create a cozy and comfortable dining experience. The decor is simple yet elegant with wooden furniture, a mix of green and white walls, and plants that add a touch of greenery.

The food is the star of the show at Meatless District. As a vegan restaurant, they offer a wide range of plant-based diverse and innovative mains with various appetizers, and desserts, all made with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. The dishes are beautifully presented and burst with flavors that leave a lasting impression.

My favorite dish is the 'Mushroom Bourgignon ,' which is served with smoked tofu, Charlotte potatoes, braised corn, micro kale and dill oil, an absolute delight to eat. Another favorite is the 'cheese cake,' I would eat this everyday if I lived a little closer.

The service at Meatless District is impeccable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making diners feel welcome and comfortable. They are always willing to recommend dishes and drinks, provide insights on the ingredients and preparation, and ensure that everyone has a pleasant dining experience.

Overall, Meatless District is the best plant based restaurant in Amsterdam. The beautiful atmosphere, innovative menu, and impeccable service make it a must-visit for anyone looking for a healthy and delicious plant-based meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to locals and...

The reviews don’t lie, Meatless District is worth your time and an evening out. The service tonight from Rhea and the rest of the staff was exceptional. Top notch. Whether you’re an Amsterdam local or just stopping through, Meatless District elevates the Vegan tapas dining experience to a casual but classy level. Order until you’re full, and enjoy the variety of cuisines offered by the kitchen. We tried the scallops, which were made from oyster mushrooms atop a marinated puréed beet root sauce, seasoned with gastronomy caviar and plant based bacon strips. Also, definitely give the no-mis steak a try, which is an exquisitely flavored dish with fermented chile, house made chimichurri sauce, that almost reminds me of house made adobo. The cooked artichoke seems to be a house speciality here as well, so if you want the interactive eating experience dig right in. It’s very hard to go wrong with a menu crafted by a kitchen that works to be accommodating, both in regards to dietary restrictions and the tastes of varied clientele in a city like Amsterdam. There has clearly been thought put into what is served here. The desserts hit the spot as we were leaving and the kitchen was closing around us. Great experience, 10/10

Very nice restaurant and menu with pleasant staff. We had the ceasar salad which was fantastic and the stew which was nice enough, although definitely the lesser of the two. There were a few mishaps with service when we went. The stew comes with bread, and we ordered a side dish of asparagus. I think they may have been delivered to the wrong table as we didn't get them with our mains. We asked straight away and it took over ten minutes for the bread to arrive and another five minutes after that to get the asparagus side dish, by which time our meals were long finished. I also saw the same thing happen with the asparagus to the table sat next to us, so it seems to cause problems for some reason! There were only four or five other tables in the restaurant at the time so I guess somehow the order just got mixed up rather than it being due to being busy. Happy to keep it at five stars despite that as they gave us a round of drinks for free and the waiters were both very nice and professional and clearly working hard. Fairly standard pricing for a nice restaurant - it came to €80 for two mains, a shared starter and two drinks each.
