āI liked this more than 11 Madisonā
Although the standard for vegan fare reviews needs to move beyond being acceptable for ānon-vegansā, this place certainly accomplished that.
There were five of us (with 3 ānon-vegansā) and we basically ordered everything to share. The Caesar salad was phenomenal and the chicken pie was a hit. The risotto was so good that my brother reached for his Lactaid and I gently assured him that heād be fine without it. He later said, āI like this better than Eleven Madisonā (which is the highest rated vegan restaurant in NYC). In fact, throughout the meal the ānon-vegansā kept saying that they would eat this regularly or that, āyou canāt even really tellā as if somehow plant-based food is kind of lie youāre being told. And, in their defense, plant-based food does do a lot of āair quotesā and faux jokes.
We also got the Bouillabaisse (which was awesome, but not ideal for sharing), the cheeseburger, asparagus, potatoes, and aubergine (eggplant) dip. We only stopped eating cause we were stuffed. But ordered the crème brûlée and cake for dessert anyway. That went quickly too.
The staff was friendly and the bar tender had the best attitude with my brother trying to learn Dutch and then sending back his āmartiniā. The vibe was casual, but the atmosphere was more upscale than expected. In general, Iām finding that service is much slower than Iām accustomed to in the āUnited Statesā and that cocktail culture has yet to make its way to Europe.
I gave 5 stars because I had such a good time and was relieved that my party was so happy in the end. If you go in expecting 4 stars, Iām confident youāll be more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoyed most of the food I ordered, but the staff werenāt very attentive. Whenever I wanted to get oneās attention I had to really try and i had to try various times when they walked in my direction and unless I physically called out once or twice, i couldnāt get their attention. I didnāt even get one come up sometimes to say āhowās the foodā or āis everything okayā, they did come up to the party of like 6 next to me many times though š ā¦.
When I told the Asian lady stuff member (I donāt know her name) that the crumbs on the Cauli Mac n cheese dug into the roof of my mouth and made my roof of mouth inflamed, itās like she didnāt know what to say and she said she will let the chef knowā¦.. I felt very awkward even mentioning that I injured the top of my mouth from the food as she didnāt respond well to it or to try to rectify it, like giving me some kind of soft drink as a kindness or anything. -I also felt that I was judged by the Asian staff member lady, as I look very young and I went in on my own, itās like maybe there was some vendetta or jealousy/bitterness that I have money to eat at this restaurant, as Iām only 26, but most people say I look 16-18!
The food was lovely apart from the Mac n cheese. It really hurt the roof of my mouth and other crunchy things they put in. I would of ordered desert also if it wasnāt for that injury.
I came to the Netherlands to work and had some rare time off to go out to eat, so I spend my hard earned money for that injury and not even some kind of kindness back, apart from āsorry, I will let...

The dim lighting and warm ambiance create a cozy and comfortable dining experience. The decor is simple yet elegant with wooden furniture, a mix of green and white walls, and plants that add a touch of greenery.
The food is the star of the show at Meatless District. As a vegan restaurant, they offer a wide range of plant-based diverse and innovative mains with various appetizers, and desserts, all made with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. The dishes are beautifully presented and burst with flavors that leave a lasting impression.
My favorite dish is the 'Mushroom Bourgignon ,' which is served with smoked tofu, Charlotte potatoes, braised corn, micro kale and dill oil, an absolute delight to eat. Another favorite is the 'cheese cake,' I would eat this everyday if I lived a little closer.
The service at Meatless District is impeccable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making diners feel welcome and comfortable. They are always willing to recommend dishes and drinks, provide insights on the ingredients and preparation, and ensure that everyone has a pleasant dining experience.
Overall, Meatless District is the best plant based restaurant in Amsterdam. The beautiful atmosphere, innovative menu, and impeccable service make it a must-visit for anyone looking for a healthy and delicious plant-based meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to locals and...
