strangely milky americano with a peculiarly large amount of coffee grinds in it
To reply to the owner: I am aware of the curse of customers leaving bad reviews for the wrong locations. Unfortunately that is not what happened here. You policy may not be to put milk and coffee grinds in the drink when customers order an americano, but that is what your baristas put in mine when i was there. I remember it distinctly because I was so excited to go, and so very disappointed with the whole experience. The reason I did not walk back to the shop and complain was because the staff who were working at the time all seemed exhausted, stressed and distracted. Although there were not many customers in the shop at the time, I imagined that they had had a very busy morning and didn't need the trouble. I also left a three star rating instead of one star, because I have a lot of respect for the difficulties of running a business. We all make mistakes. It's more of a mystery for me. I can understand how grinds end up in coffee - if the barista doesn't keep the floor of the grinder clean (which can happen when the rush of customers never ends) then grinds can stick to the portafilter spouts. But the milk was so bizarre I just thought to mention it in the review so you could review your practices. In any case it was not my intention to give you a bad review. I would want to visit more than once before doing that with a coffee shop. But Google knew I had researched your location for days, asked for directions and followed directions there, and gps-located me in your shop. Which is why google prompted me to leave a review. So I am sorry to tell you bad news, but your shop most definately served me a milky americano full of coffee grinds. Sorry!...
Read moreSo I wandered in by accident one day to get a coffee to-go. The shop looked nice and the staff were very friendly, so I decided to come back the next week. I met up with a friend and we sat in the 'conversation/meals zone' (aka no laptops/iPads). I LOVE that they have a section dedicated to activities outside of the technical world. I ended up staying for two rounds of drinks (cappuccino and tea) because the atmosphere was so lovely and I wasn't afraid of disturbing people who were there to work or study. Whenever someone sat with their laptops in the "conversation/meals zone," a staff member would politely point out the signs and redirect them to the laptop space, which had really comfy seating btw. Signs are EVERYWHERE so I'm not sure how people miss them. I was very impressed with this place and will definitely be recommending it. Thank you Monks for the conversation zone! I'm...
Read moreMonks Coffee Roasters is genuinely a haven for coffee enthusiasts and food lovers alike. The cappuccino is simply divine, and if you're in the mood for something different, the iced matcha latte won't disappoint. Their menu is a delightful mix of breakfast and brunch dishes. From the light granola to the delectable buttermilk pancakes and the savory lox bagel, they have something to satisfy every craving. And I need to emphasize: their brownies are among the best I've tasted. Beyond the food and coffee, what truly stands out is the warmth and friendliness of the service team. Moreover, dog lovers will be thrilled to know that not only are their furry companions welcome, but there's also a charming 'Dog of the Week' feature. In conclusion, if you're in Amsterdam and seeking a memorable café experience, Monk Coffee Roasters is an...
