Salumeria Italiana — Local services in Amsterdam

For those not in the know, a 'salumeria' translates as a shop specializing in cooked and cured meats of Italian origin, including salami, sausages, cold cuts and other food made mainly from pork. Salumeria Italiana is a delightful Italian delicatessen selling all these and much more.A freezer cabinet by the entrance is stocked with various types of pasta, ready made meals and Italian dessert classics such as Tiramisu. Shelves are packed with various flavours of Italian lemonades in grenade shaped bottles, tinned tomatoes and beans, anchovies and capers, traditional cakes and biscuits.

A glass counter packed with meats, cheeses, ready to go meals and other delicacies runs the length of most of the shop. Italian wines and spirits (some of which are difficult to find elsewhere) are also on offer, as well as a selection of pastries and cannoli. Many of the items tend to be on the pricey side, but more frustratingly, the delicatessen does not adhere to fixed opening hours, sometimes being closed for no apparent reason and without any notification...

This store has everything and yet is very compact. I highly recommend shopping here for everything from a special meal to an everyday evening meal.

This is in my neighborhood on the Kinkerstraat near Nassaukade. A wonderful little gem of Italian goodness. Homemade prepared foods to go, or uncooked pasta - basically anything you want, include sliced meat (so thinly sliced too).

Great deserts, wine...

Good variety of items and the deli section is delicious but as per many comments below, they aren’t open when they claim to be. I think adjusting the hours to ones they can realistically meet so that customer expectations aren’t let down would be helpful. The food quality though and products they offer are unbeatable though. You can find such a variety of dry pasta that is hard to find anywhere else...
