Phenomenal craft beer spot in historic Amsterdam specialized in Dutch offerings.

Nicely curated selection, offering around 50 draft beer rotating options. They cover a great gamut of styles, contemporary and classic pours, with special releases in a nicely maintained set up. They also have some selected bottles and cans, and a few designated offerings that can be taken to go. Snack food in the form of charcuterie and cheese boards offer plenty of Netherlands options. Portions are generous and tasty.

The venue´s decor has a classic copper and wood feel with some breweriana. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed with indoor and outdoor seating by the canal. Staff is very professional, knowledgeable, and affable. They offer courteous sample pours to explore some options, and do know the craft and hospitality business very well. I saw bartenders being exemplary, courteous, and very professional managing with dexterity and elegance the rare potentially difficult patron.

The pub is part of a group that has other venues associated around town with a more international range of ales. The specialization of this one into the Dutch craft beer scene is very notable, offering a very enjoyable insight into their brews. It's a compulsory stop for the...

We visited this place on Monday evening, just after getting to hotel. It's pretty easy to find, but rather than a restaurant, it's a bar. The beer menu is in Dutch and also English and divided into beers from tap and from bottles. And every of those two sections is divided even more, into normal, sweet and bitter beers. It's impossible to try them all! The beers we tried were delicious, really. The waiter even recommended us a beer, since we were bit baffled by huge ammount of the beers in the menu. They also offer few beer snacks, which are divided into nuts and chips (crisps), sausages and cheese. We went for tasting board where were 4 different kinds of cheese and garlic black pepper sausage. It came served with pickled onion (sweet) and mustard with whole mustard seeds. The prices are not that high, each beer ranges from 4Euro to 7 Euro for strong specials. The staff speaks perfect English, able to explain about the beer in detail. I can recommend visiting this place, if you're into beer. But this is not the place to get drunk...

We've been going to this place for several years now on our trips to Amsterdam & love it. The beers are great and we have had nothing but a positive attitude from staff whenever we've visited. There is a guy who looks like Detective Sgt Hathaway from "Lewis" who I think manages the place for the owner who always takes time to talk to us. Next time you are there ask him about the chicken stuffed with a can of beer!!! This is one of the best beer bars in Amsterdam & brilliant for getting your Dutch Beer count up on Untapped!!!

Back for another visit in March 2019. Attended to by Louis who was brilliant. This really is a cracking bar!!!!

Back again early Oct 2019. Did the More Beer tour again to get a different colour shirt. The young guy who was on the day shift (he had long hair and looked like a young Robert Plant) looked after us all week. He knew his beer and engaged well with the punters. Well done & thank you. See you in March 2020!

March 2020 - Thank you Viard & Jasper for looking after us again. See you all...

Arendsnest is a local bar on Herengracht with 52 different Dutch handcraft beers on tap. They are open from 12pm to 12am daily with extended hours until 2am on Friday and Saturday. Here you find a traditional brown bar interior with limited seating around the long bar. There are also seats outside the bar next to the canal which are setup to enjoy when the weather is nice. There is a large list of handcraft beers behind the counter. Staff can help you pick out a beer based on your taste preferences. They will let invite you to sample a couple of options before choosing (Є4.5-6 per glass). During my recent visit, I tried the Espresso Stout by Brothers in Law. This was a lighter bodied stout with strong notes of coffee and a bit of cocoa, somewhat on the bitter side. Not my favourite stout but an interesting dark beer to try. Note: Arendsnest is part of a bar group along with Beer Temple, Beer Loves Food and Craft and Draft. These might be worth checking out as well if you are interested in handcraft beer scene in Amsterdam.
