This is a mixed review, we were a party of 3 and we all came to the same conclusion...
I'll start with the bad then the good...
THE BAD The chimichurri sauce was very oily and had next to no kick, unless you spoon fed yourself with it which is what I ended up doing and finally I felt a bit of flavour. The ribeye was cooked medium rare, the way I like it, but I felt the meat could be more tender, with light seasoning salt and pepper - for a place that prides itself on its beef apropos of quality to cost ratio, all 3 of us felt it lacked in quality, seasoning and handling -- maybe a reduction sauce would have been nice. The potatoes and vegetable side were good but not memorable.
THE GOOD The calamari was very good, soft and with nice flavours, I'd go back for more. The chorizo sausage was also really good, I wanted more. The corn was literarily a piece of corn on a stick, we had fun with it so it makes the good list. The cabernet sauvignon was good for the price. The waiter was nice and read my mind - got medium rare despite not asking.
GO BACK AGAIN? Yes to try out the lunch menu, I got a feeling it will be better. Yes for the appetizers since there NOT a disappointment. Maybe for dinner if in the area, but likely will go for something other...
Read moreA very fine restaurant! On our Amsterdam city break we came across the 'La Brasa'. South American food, delicious starters, wonderful steaks and a very pleasant atmosphere, which is not least due to the extremely friendly and accommodating owner family. At first you get from the house a starter plate with olives, delicious bread and herb butter served. For starters we had ‘guacamole con tortillas’. Excellent, homemade guacamole, which cannot be compared with the elsewhere ready bought dips. My wife had delicious spare ribs and our friend the ‘El Gringo Ribeye steak’. I tried the T-Bone steak: a wonderful piece of meat, tender and grilled to perfection. As side dishes we had backed potatoes as well as rice with beans. The steak was delicious, also homemade herb butter. All in all we were in the three days Amsterdam twice at La Brasa and here in Munich I will miss such a good restaurant. But next year to the tulip blossom we will definitely be back !! Thanks for the...
Read moreVery disappointed given the high ratings. This place should not have such high ratings at this price point! They have the same price as some of the good steak restaurants but are very very far from the quality. Either the rating or price should lower, or the quality should increase.
Cons: My steak was cooked unevenly. I asked for Medium-Rare, but one side was Medium-Well, and the other size was more towards Rare.. I ordered a Rib-eye and I got a piece of meat that barely has any fat. I've never had such a lean Rib-eye, and I wondered if it was even a rib-eye. Waiter/boss did not understand what gluten are. I asked if there is gluten in the sauce and he said "Yes, there's milk in it". Be careful with food allergies. Interior design is old-school and basic
Pros: Had a nice table by the window, and seats are comfy Waiter/boss tried to be...
