Mr Meat is not a Gay Bar or BDSM event. It happens to be considered The Best Steak House in Amsterdam and although I haven’t had the steak yet I cannot wait to indulge. This Establishment is Excellence Personified. Friendly Attentive Staff with Just enough Ambience To feel Relaxed. Whether Business Dining or Personal Comfortably is the key. Now let’s talk about the Ribs…as I have left my Mainstay to Branch out I am pleasantly surprised To find an option more ‘Suited’ to my tastes. The Rack I Received was plentiful crispy Tender hot and off The Grill. Usually I Am not a ‘sauce’ person But they could have had a bit more sauce. With that said I was not Disappointed. The very Opposite as the Fries Accompanied were well Seasoned with a hint of I believe rosemary. I never picked up the Pepper or Salt grinder Provided table side. The other side was a Creamy Spinach. Now I’m not Popeye and Spinach can be bitter. And I must say that this Particular dish I know Very Well with an Absolute fave at a restaurant Far Far Away. This Creamy Spinach lacked That hint of garlic with an almost Béchamel Sauce accompaniment. It’s the perfect combo. So unfortunately this Creamy Spinach missed That certain Something. Bland and Boring. Never Fear their Wine List is a sommelier’s Dream. There was a Cuvée i had in Aruba That Blew My Mind and then there is the South African Cuvée Featured and it was Stunning. Fresh Yet Full Bodied and Refreshing. Yes I know how could a white have a ‘body’ at all? That’s the cuvée Difference. Now…should I have to Pack my leftovers? No worries I’m not That bothered by The...
Read moreThis is a one-of-a-kind steakhouse in Amsterdam, catering for the meat lovers who are really looking forward to having an exceptional piece of meat. I have no clue where are they sourcing their cuts of meat but I’m telling you this place is out of this world!
The meat is cooked to perfection, it’s tender, velvety, melts in your mouth… Just exactly how you would expect your steak to be. I had a dish called “heaven on earth” and it was truly that.
It is worth mentioning that all dishes come with fries, and sautéed spinach as a side dish. The wine is not the cheapest and this t I found it to be on the higher side, but it was very well paired and explained on the menu.
If I could only give one recommendation it would be regarding the dessert, because that cheesecake we had was not a good cheesecake. The crust was just a plain dough, not the gram cracker cookie crumb we’re used to with a New York style cheesecake and it was not a baked cheesecake it was a refrigerated cheesecake. How do I know? I bake.
But still, this restaurant deserves all five stars because it is unique in a competitor area like Amsterdam. You have to come here and try...
Read moreHave been several times to eat here and always enjoyed the experience and the food. Last night (June 14th 2025) it was the first time that we had some 'snag' with the meat. My wife's New Yor Strip and my Rib Eye were a bit 'chewy' in some part. To give context, my wife strip was 'medium' and my rib was 'medium-rare' cooked. We mentioned this to the waiters helping us (Antonio & Joao a trainee) and they immediately apologized and offered to change. Since I am not in for an opportunity to strike a deal, but just give my honest opinion as to make sure that a place I like keeps their standard, I declined. To which Antonio offered us, on the house, coffee and since it was my birthday, I got surprised with a piece of cheesecake topped by a sparkling/firework candle. Nice gesture. All and all, I will come back to eat here since I consider the meat (and the way it is prepared/cooked) really good. A high praise to the service, always top, as Antonio and Joao (hope he is called/spelled like this, but his name tag only said 'trainee') demonstrated yet again last...
