My friend and I visited Eetcafe Rosereijn during the month of May (2017) and had an abysmal experience: We don't don't know which contributed to this outcome the most, the food or service. First off, asking for tap water is not an obscure request and should not have elicited this response: "we don't do that." It was especially odd as people were drinking tap water next to us, and well, Amsterdam has one of the cleanest water sources in the world. We ordered the soup of the day and it was mediocre at best and the pesto/tomato/mozzarella toast didn't fair much better. The most surprising transaction came when the server asked for tip (i.e., service fee) while paying the bill. This was the first time that we have heard of such a request in Amsterdam. To top it off I was given a hard time when asked if I could use cash (non credit card) to pay this unusual "fee." With all of this in mind, we cannot recommend this establishment to anyone-tourist or...
Read moreWe went here a few days ago, I'm a Dutch local and I was with my partner who speaks English.
We were treated very badly by the female server. We asked for tea and what kind of options they have and the server just had a bad attitude, put the box in front of us and said "Here!".
I asked her if she was in a hurry, she said: "Yes, i am in a hurry, now, what would you want to drink??" I said: "I'm not sure if I want to drink here anymore..." She: "Ok! I'll give you time to think" and she walks away in a hurry. My partner, who didn't understand our conversation which was in Dutch, was appalled by her behavior.
The server treated us like utter garbage. WE WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!
Instead, we went to another brown cafe, few doors further. The female bartender there was such a sweetheart! She made our day.
Ga hier niet naar binnen wanneer het druk is en de bediening op haar toppunt van...
Read moreWow! I'm so glad we found this restaurant on our trip. It looked adorable on the outside and the interior felt like stepping back into the 1950s, it was beautiful ❤ not so spacious on the inside but I think that just added to it's old school charm. The staff were helpful and good humoured. We ordered the hamburger 'rosereijn' and it was amazing, it was cooked to absolute perfection (medium rare) and the bread was an amazing and unexpected combination, honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The apple pie was so tasty too, really good flavour combinations, not what I'd usually choose but I'm really glad I had it, I'm now an apple pie convert! Topped off with a very yummy Irish coffee. A truly...
