We googled vegan food and Robin Food came up. The images on line entice me to check the site out.
It was the oddest experience trying to find this location/ with no street access , crude and poor signage , with the need to go through a fellow business then to navigate a less than inviting hallway
The experience of going down a dingy hallway with very little signage was too much for us and we just said no way
We never tasted the food or even saw where it was served.
Ideally online should do a better job of communicating, what this place is. From reading the comments it appears to be is a low cost communal food establishment, for locals which is Vegan It is it appears that they source food that would have been discarded. The reviews talk about the amazing volunteer community and the camaraderie experience, which I admire
The photos on line , and the high google ratings - gave me a false impression. As a person, exploring the city of Amsterdam and looking for interesting comfortable, vegan eating experiences, this was not for me
I think it’s really good for one’s health to eat vegan so I sincerely hope this establishment continues to serve the community with low cost...
Read moreAn absolute bargain at €15 for a 3-course meal! Different special vegan menu each day prepared by passionate volunteers using mostly organic rescued surplus food. I really appreciated their effort in reducing food waste and providing affordable, healthy, and tasty food! The decor was nice and atmosphere was amazing, especially since I knew they were so sincere and enthusiastic about their mission. When I visited, we were served a delicious fennel coconut soup; generous rice platter with leek-beetroot-tomato stew, grilled oyster mushrooms and asparagus, watermelon salad, and walnut puree; as well as a soft and creamy hazelnut tiramisu. Reservations recommended as it got really busy when I was there. The tables are larger so you’ll like share tables and have some extent of socialising; we were tourists but were not made to feel unwelcome. Serving may take a while so do set aside more time to dine; there are board games available for playing. Note that the entrance is via De Nieuwe Anita Bar; you can order and bring in a drink since beverages aren’t offered as part of the 3-course meal, but there’s no strict obligation to do so. Located right at Hugo de...
Read moreIf you have the opportunity to dine here and want a delectable home cooked meal, don't miss out!! The entire experience was unique and satisfying. This was our first meal in Amsterdam, the only issue now is our expectations are a bit high. Every course was full of flavor, very fresh, and was clearly made with great care. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. The restaurant itself felt like Amsterdam's best kept secret. I don't know how I found this place and got reservations, but I'm so grateful I did!! My husband is quite hard to please and critical of restaurants, and even he gives Robin Food 5 stars across the board. My only complaint is that they won't be open again before we leave.
Oh, and bring euros, we only had American cash, and they were nice enough to take it, but I believe that's made more...
