Tonight we had a terrible experience at this bar and will never give business to them ever again. Our interaction with them tonight lasted less than a minute. My husband and I walked by and heard karaoke and decided to go see what was going on. We wanted to sit away from the bar and a man came up to us and organized some chairs that were away from the bar so we could sit comfortably. There was a really slow song playing and it was not really the vibe we were looking for so we were just waiting to see what song was next to see if the vibe picked up. Immediately after we sat down he asked us what we wanted to drink and listed a few beers for my husband and a few fruity drinks for me. I stated I wanted to see how karaoke went and the man rudely stated that this is a drinking bar. So we got up and my husband said we understand and as we left my husband informed him how we were there the previous night and spent quite a bit of money. The man's reaction changed and said he didn't know that. That one rude comment changed our whole perspective of this place. We will never give business to this establishment again. I do not recommend this place at all. After reading other reviews on Google it seems like this place has had things like this happen before. They don't care about anything except for money. Find another place to give your business to there are so many places on the island that would truly...
Read moreMy heart gets warm just thinking about this place and the people that work there! They were among some of the kindest, fun-loving people I’ve ever met.
My boyfriend and I randomly walked into Bulldog’s for a quick drink on one of our first nights in Aruba and had great conversation with the owner. When we came back a second night, the bartender remembered our drinks as soon as we walked in!
Fast forward - we end up leaving early because I thought I lost my phone at our previous dinner spot. We searched up and down the beach all night and by the next day I was about ready to call that phone a goner. 24 hrs later we get a call from our hotel saying the owner of Bulldog’s had my phone!! He had went from hotel to hotel trying to get my phone back to me!
When we tried to offer him cash as a reward for finding and returning my phone, he refused and responded that all he was concerned about was that he had a happy customer!
The owners (husband & wife) truly care about making people happy and it showed from the moment we walked into the bar.
If you ever get the chance to go to this bar, please do!
-ps the amazing drinks...
Read moreAnyone who has been to The Bulldog in other countries, especially the Netherlands, will confirm it’s a disgrace how the management carry this name for this bar. bad service bad music; karaoke can be fun, but not every day, the whole evening where the staff sing the majority of the evening. food is not all that mismanagement expensive drinks for what is served
But most of all, unequal service. Or as some have mentioned before; pure racist. Asking people of color to pay up front, changing the music to “scare off” people of color, not giving people of color a chance to sing, etc.
It’s nothing compared to what the original Bulldog in the Netherlands stands for; champion of equality and diversity.
Luckily people have noticed as I’ve walked passed this place several times during high season and you could count the customers on one hand. Such a shame considering it’s location and the reputation it needs to hold up.
Nah, this ain’t no good place, unless you’re white...
