A disappointing experience. Our initial impression was good. The hostess was friendly and worked efficiently to get us a table. The waiter was friendly as well, quickly coming to take our order. So quick that we had not yet had enough time to consider the entire menu and make any decisions about what to order. We probably should have ordered right then because that’s when everything took a turn for the worse. It took a long time for him to return after that initial interaction. After finally ordering, it took a long time for any food to arrive. I ordered calamari, my partner ordered an oriental soup and a dragon roll. The other two people at our table ordered a chicken rice bowl and one of the sashimi bowls. It was over 45 minutes before our server came to ask if I liked my calamari. When I told him it hadn’t arrived he seemed surprised. Apparently it was brought to another table. He then brought my calamari about 5 minutes later. No other food arrived for over 15 minutes after my calamari. The waiter then brought another plate of calamari that he said was on the house. No one else received their food for another 30 minutes. The soup never arrived so my partner canceled that order. The sushi arrived but did not match the description on the menu. At that point my partner was so frustrated that she left to look for another restaurant. The rice bowl arrived about ten minutes after that. Finally we had to tell the server that sashimi plate hadn’t arrived yet. He immediately went to the kitchen and it arrived about 5 to 10 minutes later. The food was okay but overall it was a horrible experience.
I’ve worked in several restaurants in my life so I understand how difficult and chaotic things can get, but I really don’t understand where this breakdown happened. I don’t know if the kitchen never received the orders or the they received the order and forgot/ignored it, or if the server did not enter everything that we ordered. Part of a great dinner experience is to enjoy food together with everyone at your table. The combination of the wait and the fact that we all received our food at different times was a colossal error by the staff that night. It really is inexcusable. I appreciated the complimentary extra plate of calamari, but I can’t help but think that one of them was made by mistake as part of the confusion between the server and the kitchen. The lack of attentiveness from our server was a variable that contributed to the delays on this disastrous evening. Perhaps the restaurant was understaffed that night and he was overwhelmed. Regardless, with so many other options in the Palm Beach area it will take a miracle for us to...
Read moreLast night my family and I were at this place. Big mistake. 9 people 5 espresso martinis ordered, 2 strawberry daiquiris and Nono had alcohol in them. The manager tried to explain their espresso martinis have whisky in the ( new one to me) and I hate whiskey so if it was there I would have sent the drink back. Also the 5 of us notice 4 beans in our martinis not 3 and called it. No alcohol and bad!
Sushi was not good especially the tuna. I was up sick most of the night. On the positive side 4 of out 9 people ordered bowls. Probably best choice you could make. If you want sushi try somewhere else.
Apps Coconut shrimp was okay. Calamari was the worst of our trip and we’ve had it nightly. The Ceviche was take a lemon and squeeze it down your throat awful.
Finally the manager told me he’d comp the martinis and then cut the bill in half. The first part happened but not the 2nd. He was very polite and concerned with the bad review someone in our group gave during the dinner.
My guess is this happens nightly and I know I won’t go back. I just hope if you try the place you don’t have this experience. If you are looking so somewhere Patriaza’s next door was incredible!
Best of luck with...
Read moreLet me start by saying the service was awesome. The staff was very attentive and even the bartender walked my second drink over when our server was busy. Very much appreciated. We started with the gyoza which were deep fried chicken dumplings that tasted like soy sauce more than anything else. Then we got the dragon roll, volcano roll, and spicy tuna roll. Both deep-fried rolls tasted very bland and dry. I've never seen a sushi place individually fry the ingredients, then fry the roll altogether. The spicy tuna roll, however, was delicious. The flavors of complexity were there, and I ended up mostly eating that one. My recommendation would be stay away from the fried rolls. I would definitely give this place a second chance solely based on the service and flavor of the...
