During my recent visit to Willemstad, I had the opportunity to dine at the Iguana Cafe, a quaint little spot with a lot to offer. I give this charming cafe a solid 4-star rating for its quick staff, lovely views, and reasonable prices, although there were a few minor downsides worth noting.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly and efficient staff who made sure my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Their quick service allowed me to make the most of my time in the beautiful city of Willemstad.

One of the highlights of the Iguana Cafe is its stunning view. Overlooking the picturesque water, the terrace provides an ideal setting to enjoy a leisurely meal while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the city. The prices at the cafe were also quite reasonable, ensuring that I could savor the delightful scenery without breaking the bank.

The food at the Iguana Cafe was satisfactory, though not particularly outstanding. While the dishes were tasty enough, I wouldn't say they left a lasting impression on my taste buds.

However, there were a couple of downsides that detracted from the overall experience. The terrace is located next to a road where stationary cars and vans occasionally gather, creating some noise and distractions. Additionally, the restroom facilities were not up to par, which was a bit disappointing given the otherwise charming ambiance of the cafe.

In conclusion, Iguana Cafe in Willemstad offers a pleasant dining experience with its quick staff, beautiful views, and reasonable prices. While the food was just okay, and the location had a few minor drawbacks, the overall atmosphere made for an enjoyable visit. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by for a relaxing meal with a scenic backdrop.

We visited Iguana Café in Willemstad during our trip in July 2025, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.

Positives • The view of the water is fine, but nothing special compared to other places on the island.

Negatives • Slow service: Everything took an unreasonably long time. Food and drinks took ages to arrive, and staff moved at their own pace with no sense of urgency. • Staff attitude: The attitude of the staff was poor, echoing what we experienced at other places on the island. There is a general lack of hospitality, as if serving customers is a favour rather than part of their job.

Worst part • The most shocking part of our visit was that the waitress tried to steal from us. Because the food and service were so bad, I had decided not to leave a tip. Yet when the bill came, she had added $5 as a tip without my consent. After I paid, she quickly said goodbye and walked off, which felt suspicious. I called her back and asked for a receipt, and sure enough, there it was—$5 added as a tip. When I confronted her, she claimed it was a “mistake” and returned the $5 in cash, not back to my card. I wanted to speak to a manager but my taxi was already waiting, so I had to leave. I kept the receipt as proof of what happened.

In a nutshell Be very careful at Iguana Café. The service is slow, the staff attitude is poor, and in my case, the waitress even tried to sneak extra money onto my bill. With so many better places to eat in Curaçao, I strongly suggest avoiding this spot to save yourself the hassle and the risk of...

I stopped at this restaurant one morning before sightseeing in Curacao. I came for breakfast but there menu options were limited. I guess I'm used to the restaurants in America which usually have so many breakfast options. Their breakfast menu included about only five items which consisted mainly of various combinations of croissants and eggs. I ordered the pancakes with bacon. My OJ tasted like it was freshly squeezed - but that seems to be common in this island. The pancakes were cake like and on the dry side. But the worst part was that the bacon they served me was very overcooked. If you are familiar with what crackling is - that is exactly what my bacon tasted like! I have tasted crackling only once in my life and disliked it. The service staff in general was friendly but like most of the service that I experienced on the island - very slow. I had to interrupt the waitresses conversation to get a table and order. In the end I also had to ask for my bill. The only reason why I chose this restaurant was the view that it offered and the cooling misting fans that help to keep you cool in the humidity. I would return only for the restaurant features but I definitely wouldn't order the...

DO NOT EAT HERE: We were vegans struggling to find somewhere to eat in this area on Christmas Eve after our other options ended up being closed. The vegetarian burgers were by far and away the worst I've ever seen. Vile, nauseating, faeces like mush with tinned mushrooms and old salad all inside a cold soggy bun, or should that be bum. It honestly felt like I was eating from a toilet bowl and would have been wise for me to be next to one as I was close to vomiting the entire time. This was the second worst dining experience food wise in my entire life. I am glad I don't eat meat because I can only imagine serious food poisoning from this place. The only redeeming quality of the restaurant was the nice fresh lemonade.

5 stars for setting… 2 stars for food/service. Pretty much sums up this solid 3 star place. The location is why you come and the food is why you will leave. Got the fish burger (see pic that says it all) a tiny deep fried puck with thick bread and lots of fries… and yes it’s the fish burger you are served on an island. If you know curaçao, you know the food standard is way above this. Service was inconsistent. The waitress that took our order never came back after delivering the food. So after waiting a long while we just asked another to check us out and all was good. That being said… if you go here for the setting the best way is to avoid the food and nurse a beer/drink & enjoy sunset/people watching downtown.
