I travel to Curaçao frequently and have visited Plein Café countless times. Unfortunately, the experience continues to be inconsistent. Tonight’s visit was especially disappointing. I ordered the wings and a Caesar salad with add-ons. The wings were dry and tasted like they had been refried. The “Caesar” salad was made with iceberg lettuce, day-old tomatoes, and a bland dressing that lacked the flavor expected in a proper Caesar. It felt more like a basic side salad with bottled dressing than a true menu item. To make matters worse, I was charged for salad add-ons that never arrived—even after pointing it out to the waiter, the items were still never delivered. Service was equally frustrating. I had to repeatedly flag down the waiter for napkins, missing food items, and even to correct the beverage order. It was clear we were being ignored, particularly by the server with the earpiece who went out of her way to avoid our table. The level of staff turnover is eye-opening and seems to directly impact both service and quality. With the steady influx of cruise ship passengers, the restaurant appears to rely on transactional one-time visitors rather than building consistency for returning customers. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I cannot recommend Plein Café and will be exploring alternative dining options on future visits.

Great Food and Amazing Beers! Plain Café Wilhelmina is one of my favorite spots in Curaçao for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the food selection is fantastic! My personal favorite is the Bernard—tenderloin strips served with a fresh salad. I usually pair it with french fries, and it’s always delicious. What really makes this place stand out is the variety they offer: • Daily Specials: They have a “broodje van de dag” (sandwich of the day) and a lunch special daghap for those looking for something fresh and unique. • Beer Selection: The beer menu is incredible, offering the largest variety on the island! From IPAs and brown beers to white beers, blonde beers, magnums, non-alcoholic options, and lagers, there’s something for everyone. Beer lovers will especially enjoy the experience. • Vegetarian Options: They also cater to vegetarians, which is a big plus for anyone looking for plant-based meals. • Happy Hour: A perfect time to relax with friends and enjoy their amazing drink selection. Whether you’re here for a quick bite, a leisurely meal, or just to explore their impressive beer assortment, Plain Café Wilhelmina is a must-visit. The food is always fresh, the service is friendly, and the variety keeps you coming back for more. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!

Today, July 6, 2024, we went there for dinner. Our waitress, who had an earphone on, was unfriendly to say the least. No greetings or even a smile on her face. We ordered our drinks and asked for menu for the food. She said she would bring them, which she never did. As a matter of fact she never came back to our table even though she was taking care of the table right next to ours several times. She was obviously ignoring us. It was happy hours so many drinks were priced two for one. My Mojito looked nice but literally tasted like lime water. My companion had Henry’s Gin Tonic and it also tasted watered down. We didn’t eat anything since we never got the menu. Eventually we paid for the bill and left. We went there partially for the high ratings on Google Maps. It certainly turned out to be a terrible experience and we for sure will never go there again.

My husband and I had just arrived on the island and needed to find somewhere to eat before heading back to the hotel and this was one of the few places that was still open. We both ordered the keshi yena - the portion was small but tasty. But the good food was not enough to bring this review higher than two stars. Our server was blatantly passive aggressive and sarcastic at such simple requests as asking if there is an English menu available. We noticed this behaviour in her interactions with other customers as well. After paying for the meal we had to ask three times if our change was coming. It took about 30 minutes in total from the time we paid until we actually got our change. To be fair it was near closing time so they were probably busy trying to close up a number of bills. My husband and I didn't want to be too critical at first since it was our first time eating out on the island - for all we knew, this could have been the norm. However, after visiting several more restaurants we realized our experience at Plein Cafe was the exception rather than the rule. Almost all other places we went had bigger portions of food and much...
