This homey humble restaurant was recommended by Rick Steves guide book and then backed by google reviews, and it wasn’t disappointing. We walked in after 8pm and was worried that the kitchen was about to close but the chef came out and greeted us warmly and told us and the other guests not to rush and take time to eat. We ordered the recommended Rijsttafel or rice table with curry dishes on the hot plate. Everything was delicious except the mackerel was about average as while the gravy was lovely the fish is a bit dry. Read moreI arrived at this restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night. It's a small family run place with literally 2 people, one in the kitchen and one waiting tables. They are super sweet and so hardworking that I honestly did not mind waiting. Then something amazing happened- a Dutch family started helping them wait tables so the Indonesians could both cook in the kitchen. Things moved faster and the atmosphere was so warm and friendly. I did the wise thing by just ordering whatever was ready, in my case it was yellow rice and chicken curry which was absolutely 10/10. I wanted the Soto ayam but it had run out. The service is friendly; the food is served rather promptly and it’s delicious and there is a great amount of variety on offer. Moreover, the owneress of the establishment is such a lovely woman; she is also the chef.
