Bad experience, unfortunately.
Be careful of the head waiter—she's extremely friendly, smiley, and charming, but also very sneaky. We asked if they could make us a vegan sandwich and were told they could bring us a salad and bread so we could make the sandwich ourselves. Two salads came out covered in some sort of mayo. When we flagged this with the waiter, she suggested we eat around the mayo. We explained that (1) this would waste about 40% of each salad and (2) there was still a risk of getting ill as we both have bad reactions to dairy.
After a lot of back and forth, the waiter agreed to bring out one vegan salad for both of us. When it came to paying, we were told we wouldn't be charged for the third salad. However, when I queried why the first two salads were on the bill, she said we had ordered them, so we should pay for them, and that the third salad was a sign of goodwill. I told her we weren't going to pay for food we didn't order, as this is not how a restaurant works. She said fair enough and took the items off the bill immediately, which means she knew exactly what she was doing by trying to charge us for both salads in the first place.
The place was nice and the food was fine, but the entire experience was bizarre. We paid €47.50 for one vegan salad, an egg on toast, and three orange juices—quite...
Read moreFood was decent, but perhaps a bit pricey for the amount that was served. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and the meat was very chewy. Considering the 14 € asking price, I expected better. Although, this was only my first time there. The real problem, though, and I can’t just chalk this up to Dutch bluntness, was when my girlfriend asked for a bit more water for her tea. The waitress, an older woman, probably the manager, as well, was very rude, saying, arrogantly, that ‘that’s not how we do things here’. That’s alright with me, every establishment has its own policies, but what isn’t okay is the tone with which you talk to people. I could award a 3-star review, but, for me, politeness and understanding are part of the experience when eating out. It was really a shame, because the food wasn’t bad, but we won’t...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place because the photos online look amazing, but unfortunately the food was a big disappointment. I ordered the King Benedict, which looked promising, but it turned out very dry and lacked flavor. There was nothing really tasty about it. I also tried the shrimp balls, and they were the same - too dry, with no freshness or seasoning to make them enjoyable.
To make things worse, the staff even took my forks away and left me without any, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, I expected much better based on the presentation, but the reality didn’t...
