We gingen naar deze pub om de verjaardag van een vriend te vieren, maar helaas was de ervaring vanaf het begin teleurstellend. We waren met twee groepen van ongeveer zes personen. De eerste groep zat al aan een tafel en had allemaal al drankjes besteld. De tweede groep was net aangekomen—nog geen vijf minuten binnen—en zelfs toen hadden twee van de zes al een drankje besteld.

Voordat de rest de kans kreeg om het menu te bekijken of iets te bestellen, kwam een serveerster naar onze tafel en zei op een erg onvriendelijke toon dat “dit een pub is” en dat als we geen drankjes gingen bestellen, we maar “bij het station moesten gaan praten.” In plaats van vriendelijk het menu aan te bieden, meer bestellingen op te nemen of beleefd het beleid uit te leggen, werden we behandeld met onnodige onbeleefdheid.

We besloten meteen te vertrekken, teleurgesteld door de slechte service. Misschien verklaart dat waarom de pub bijna leeg was op een zaterdagavond. Jammer—wat een leuke viering had moeten zijn, werd verpest door de manier waarop we werden behandeld.

We went to this pub to celebrate a friend’s birthday, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. We were two groups of around six people each. One group was already seated and had all ordered drinks. The second group had just arrived—barely five minutes in—and even then, two out of the six people had already placed their drink orders.

Before the rest of us had a chance to look at the menu or order, a waitress came to our table and, in a very rude tone, said that “this is a pub” and if we weren’t going to order drinks right away, we should “go chat at the station.” Instead of kindly offering the menu, taking more orders, or politely explaining the policy, we were treated with unnecessary hostility.
