I've dined a few times now at Fishbar Monk and had an overall enjoyable culinary experience. This seafood restaurant excels in delivering fresh, delicious dishes that are a treat for the taste buds. The menu offers a variety of seafood options, each prepared with great skill and attention to detail. The presentation was stunning. While the food was exceptional, I did find some dishes to be on the smaller side and a bit pricey for the portion sizes. The atmosphere was quite noisy, with the restaurant bustling with activity. At times, it was difficult to hold a conversation. Despite this minor drawback, the quality of the food made it well worth the visit. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure that every guest had a memorable dining experience. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions about the menu. In conclusion, Fishbar Monk is a delightful spot for seafood lovers. The noisy atmosphere and smaller, pricier dishes are small prices to pay for the outstanding food and service. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality seafood dining experience in the NL. I will definitely...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant to eat at before going on to my son’s birthday. We arrived at 6:30 the time of our reservation to be told we that we could wait at the bar for a table to become free or take a table by the door. We chose the table. Being by the door we heard people entering all with reservations all seated at the bar, except reservations for 4. I must say that the food was excellent and the waiting staff friendly and smiling but it was obvious that the management’s concept is as much throughput as possible. This was to be seen in the shared dining concept which is fine but we dus not expect the cold (small dish/ starter) to arrive at the same time! Put on a table just big enough for the food but not for comfortable eating. So 10/10 for the food. 8/10 for the service. But 5/10 for the production line atmosphere. Wine was also very good. A fish restaurant where you’re packed in like sardines! Shame, we...

Good Fish, Cozy Ambiance, but Pricey at Fishbar Monk
I recently dined at Fishbar Monk in Haarlem, NL, on a Saturday evening.
The industrial design gives a market-like feel with small spaces between tables, making it cozy yet cramped.
Service was good, with staff checking in twice.
I had smoked eel with toast, seabass, prawns, fries, and grilled cabbage. The grilled cabbage in buttered milk sauce was excellent. The seabass was good but overpriced. The toast for the eel was too hard.
Overall clean, but the small, ruffled bathroom needs felt a bit tired on. Saturday evening. .
Value for Money: Expensive with a limited menu. Side dishes aren't paired with mains and choices are limited.
I'd recommend it for fish lovers but might not return due to high prices and...
