The wolfhoud has a special place in my heart. It's where me and my now husband went on our first date. But note to self after the other night I will try to remember to never go back. There food has always been consistently mediocre, and listing to 90's rock never really my thing. But it's a place to go and you usually know what to expect. But that night the service was beyond bad. Yes it was a busy night but I see the servers walking back and forth with nothing in there hand yet no one can take our order or bring us a beer to have with our food. And to top it off they had placed chips "fries " right in front of my husband, we thought it was part of our dinner because our dinner came with chips. So we ate them thinking it was odd that the rest of our dinner was not delivered soon after. But hey they where busy so maybe just a mix up in the kitchen...right? So our dinner finely arrived and it had chips with it. We where both surprised but chalk it up to a complementary do to the slow service. We where unable to fish the food we ordered because of those chips. As we where getting ready to leave a man told us we had eaten his chips. Wow, we felt bad. When we went up to pay they then told us they where charging us for the chips. The chips we did not order and made us to full to eat our meal. So good job wolfhound you have managed to alienate local Haarlemers with you petty money grubbing...
Read moreSeated when there were few other tables seated, less than 10 tables seated total, while large groups came in after us but got food before us. Front of house seemingly divided work based on type of orders so the waiter brought some drinks while the waitress brought out food and drink which only made the front of house more chaotic. Waitress repeatedly asked if we could wait to order and sat for an hour without ordering. Ended with our waitress asking us to go upstairs to pay and told us our table number so we could leave as if that wasn't her job. No excuse of taking orders from tables that came after us and was completely miss managed. Left and went to zap Thai by J&C to get food. Being in the industry I see no reason the front of house was so bad based on table number and what should be average turnover rate. Avoid at all costs if your looking for any type of food. Bartender was the only person who knew what they were doing while the rest were worthless and couldn't handle the fact that large groups came in after us but somehow got their orders before us. Again just avoid it and go to Ultje Brewing for a real drinking experience with good service. If you want food just avoid it...
Read moreCame here on a lazy Sunday to try out some burgers! When entering the establishment, it truly felt like you entered a Irish pub.
I ordered the Wolfhound burger with cheesy fries. Everything was fine until the server came back to tell me that it wasn't possible to get cheesy fries unless I order it separately on the menu. The reason being that the cooks didn't want to do it and that it was simply time consuming.
Being inside, there was not even a lot of tables seated at the moment and I was confused on why I couldn't get them together with my burger. Even the server didn't know what to do and apologized on their behalf. I settled on ordering some cheesy spring rolls as well instead.
The burger was an absolutely unit, with the patty and the grilled chicken stacked on each other, it wasn't easy to fit in my mouth but manageable. It tasted really good and pairs really nicely with the stout.
After enjoying quite a filling meal, the server once again apologized but there wasn't anything that was going to be done. Once again, It wasn't possible to get this even when it is stated on the menu.
Nonetheless, definitely keen on coming back to try out some other...
