I am writing to report an unfortunate incident that occurred at La place restaurant at Schiphol airport on 23.07.2023
My family and I visited the restaurant, attracted by a menu displayed with a price of 11 euros. However, to our dismay, when we received the bill, we noticed that we were charged separately for each item in the menu, resulting in an unexpected increase of 25% in the total price. This deceptive practice left us feeling cheated and disappointed.
When we kindly raised our concern with the staff, they were extremely resistant and impolite. To our disbelief, they accused us of being rude while inquiring about the charges, which was certainly not the case. Despite our efforts to reason with them, they showed no empathy or willingness to address the issue.
As we decided to leave the restaurant due to their unprofessional behavior, the manager approached our table and claimed that if we had asked politely, they would have made adjustments to the bill. This response was absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. As customers, we should not be subjected to such treatment and manipulation.
Furthermore, when we expressed our intention to share our negative experience, the manager’s response was appalling. She arrogantly stated that the restaurant makes a significant profit daily, implying that our feedback was insignificant to them. She even rudely told us “we make 50k a day and we don’t care about you,” which is highly unprofessional and disrespectful.

My purpose for using this spot was to grab a quick breakfast before my flight, but it was extremely crowded, and I had to wait a bit to purchase food. The food selection was not very diverse, offering only basic, limited options from a chain. The taste was exactly what you would expect from a typical franchise—average at best.
However, the prices were shockingly high, to the point where it felt discouraging to buy anything. I understand it’s an airport, but the prices for simple items like bread were outrageous. Additionally, the place was so crowded that finding a seat was a challenge(around 5am) and the tables weren’t even cleaned, which made the experience unpleasant. I recently had a very frustrating experience at La Place Express. I used to love their Flatbread and was really looking forward to enjoying it after a long, tiring flight. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there.
I was the first person to arrive and place my order. However, despite that, the staff member repeatedly ignored my order as other customers came in. He would take their orders and start preparing their food immediately, even though I had clearly been waiting longer. This happened more than once, and even when another customer pointed out that I had been there first, the staff still didn't bother to prioritize my order.
After waiting far too long, I decided to cancel my order and leave. This was incredibly disappointing, and the lack of respect for customers' time was shocking.
