We visited this restaurant on January 2nd to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, following an afternoon at Naturalis. We had made a reservation well in advance for 1 PM. Upon arrival, the restaurant was completely empty – a warning sign we should have seen. The owner eventually appeared, speaking on the phone, and without so much as a hello, gestured for us to “take a seat” before walking away mid conversation.
We sat for ten minutes without even receiving a menu. Finally, frustrated, we approached the kitchen to ask if anyone planned to take our order. A few minutes later, someone brought menus, but the service only got worse from there. Thirty minutes passed, and we still hadn’t received drinks; in an empty restaurant.
When we returned to the kitchen to ask about the delay, the owner unapologetically blamed us for ordering “too many different drinks”; all of which consisted of three bottles of soft drinks and two coffees. This level of incompetence is baffling. We were stunned that after half an hour of waiting, not only was nothing served, but we were blamed for the delay.
When we expressed that this was unacceptable, the owner’s reaction was truly shocking. Instead of addressing the issue, he told us to leave! Imagine standing there with three hungry young children, including a birthday girl, and being shouted at and shown the door; all because the restaurant failed to provide even the most basic service.
This is beyond bad service; it’s outright disrespect. I have never experienced such rudeness and unprofessionalism in my life. When I pointed out how inappropriate this was, especially with children present, the owner only continued to yell, telling us again to leave. We had no choice but to walk out, humiliated and stunned.
In his response to my review, he outright calls me a liar and insists that his timeline is “100% legit.” It is not. Our photos clearly show that we were still attempting to give the restaurant a chance at 13:24. Additionally, our parking transaction (a mere two-minute walk from the restaurant) was logged at 13:40. We did not leave at 13:26. Furthermore, I am certain we did not arrive at 13:08 as he claims. This is not a matter of “his word against mine”, the screenshots speaks for itself.
It’s also telling that in response to other negative reviews, he consistently shifts blame onto customers or his own team rather than taking accountability. His claim that 18 minutes of waiting for a drink is “normal” is beyond ridiculous, especially in an empty restaurant.
As for his assumption that our child doesn’t drink cold apple juice; how absurd! She’s 3 years old, and children her age love cold drinks. But that’s beside the point. His lies continue, including the claim that my husband shouted. This is categorically false. We would never behave that way, especially in front of our children.
Lastly, he has the audacity to complain that all three of us are leaving 1 star reviews? We are customers; all with the right to share our honest experiences. He seems more focused on deflecting criticism than addressing the legitimate issues raised. See other negative reviews!
Frankly, if the owner cannot handle running his restaurant after the holidays, or take responsibility for his horrendous service, he should simply keep it closed rather than subject paying customers to this disgraceful behavior.
I strongly urge anyone considering this place to think twice. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that know how to treat their guests with respect and provide a simple meal without chaos. This establishment should not be one of them. Absolutely...
Read moreI am looking at the photos and compare them with what was presented to us tonight and I am wondering if they are from a different restaurant. Because it was them in combination with the enthusiatic reviews that made us choose this place for the closing dinner of our city trip. We were very disappointed. The sitting area is at the back of the store (you have to walk through the kitchen/take away pick-up area and the washing dishes area (?) to reach it and there's no ventilation except a very small window. No visible dissenfecting, tables next to each other (we were only asked if we were with symptoms). When we ordered one of the 4 chef's specialties for two, we were told that it 'they have run out of it'. Weird! I thought that sushi is prepared fresh per order. Only 1 of the 4 specials was available and when it arrived it was nothing special. No presentation, no flavor to justify all the reviews we had read. And at the same time, we were hearing people sitting next to us ordering from the menu only to be told a bit later 'sorry, we run out of that'. Drinks are sake, coke (absolutely unsuitable with a Japanese menu) and some Japanese beer and soft drinks. And no, the price was not a 'bargain'. So, now you know exactly what to expect from this place and the choice is all yours. (Maybe we visited...
Read moreVisited end of December last year. Good points is the sushis are reasonably priced & the owner was friendly. Unfortunately these were outnumbered by some negative points which resulted in us having a bit of a forgettable evening. Service extremely slow despite only a handful of tables occupied. Seeing children at the table the staff didn’t bother bringing their food first. Seemed only one person was preparing all the food. All the food is brought on a platter for the sake of sharing. With the waiter not explaining the contents it’s impossible to check your order. Given the general quality of Sushi in Holland, the food left a lot to be desired. Even the seaweed on some sushis were torn which indicates they hadn’t been cut properly or cut with a blunt knife. Unless the quality and service improve or the takeaway orders keep coming, I don’t see this restaurant...
