Pêt Thai — Restaurant in Maastricht

Poor experience. I've read from other comments that Pêt Thai cuisine was very authentic. Well, most likely they have never experienced true authentic cuisine from Thailand. For what concerns the restaurant itself, many in- and out flow of people coming for take away. The main eating room is crowded, noisy and shabby, no intimity. It looks more like a canteen, nothing to see with what could be called a restaurant. For what concerns the food itself, the dishes, for what it really consist of, are truly overpriced. The capuccino that we've ordered in final was a real shame. This liquid was a pure juice from old socks, nothing to see with coffee, even less with a capuccino. The service was fast and quite efficient looking at the crowd of people. By the way, if you go to the bar to pay the bill, like I did, just an advice. Don't look to the kitchen! Well, we keep the address in our books, just to remember and ake sure we never go...

Food is okay. Probably not best. Being used to Brussels wide selections of international restaurant this restaurant surely isn't better than any good average restaurant in Brussels. Soups and sauces are not fresh and are kept for many days until, eventually, they are not good anymore or they finish. Unfortunately from what I read from other reviews I have to draw the conclusion that the customer service and staff quality dropped really low. I heard from previous workers of the restaurant that they quit mainly due to the unpleasant boss. That may probably be the reason why some of the staff is now really unpleasant. In conclusion: Food is okay. But working environment for the staff bad. Some unpleasant staff members.

I would have given not more than 3 stars but I will give 2 because I don't believe the average should...

The food tasted really great with a very authentic Thai taste. Only 2 issues:

Menu stated minced pork thai basil rice with a photograph, but we were served pork chunks instead. clarified with the staff, and they said this was usual practice at the restaurant, and if we wanted "minced pork", we had to make a special request upon ordering. This was unusual since it is stated clearly on the menu and even depicted on the photograph, and the dish is traditionally served in minced form. Please update the menu not to be misleading!

We ordered Tom Yum Pla (Fish) due to allergies with shellfish. Dish was served with a prawn, and we couldnt consume it at all.

Left slightly disappointed - although the food tasted really great, it wasnt exactly what we wanted. Please take note if you are ordering the dishes above!...
