After days of struggling to find proper Indian food in Belgium — the kind that hits you with real flavour, not just decoration — we finally gave up and drove to the Netherlands.

And it was worth every mile.

Spice of India in Maastricht delivered exactly what we needed: warmth, familiarity, and actual spice that didn’t hold back.

We ordered: Palak Paneer – Creamy, well-balanced, not overloaded with ghee. The paneer was fresh and soft, not rubbery.

Dal Tarka – The highlight for me. Smoky, rich, and absolutely packed with proper tempered garlic flavour.

Chole (Chickpeas) – Cooked through perfectly, with deep masala notes and zero shortcuts.

Tandoori Roti – Thin, crisp-edged, with just enough chew — done properly in a clay oven.

Basmati Rice – Fragrant, fluffy, and not a single clump.

Papadum – Fresh, crunchy, not stale or soggy like so many places.

Mango Lassi – Smooth, just sweet enough, and ice-cold. The kids finished theirs before we sat down.

The service? Calm, respectful, and welcoming. No pretence. They treated our kids kindly, and the owner even came to check if we needed anything else — not in a pushy way, just genuine hospitality.

We left full, satisfied, and already planning our return. In fact, we did promise to come back the next day — but ended up arriving after 10pm, too...

Wonderful place, came here by coincidence, i was craving indian and i saw this place and i instantly knew this was the place to go. I sat down and was greeted by this wonderful indian man, whom i later realised owned this place. out of curiosity i asked him about his life and i realised that this man had it figured out, he’d been to hell and back whilst serving in the military service of multiple countries spanning multiple continents. This man realised that life is about much more than bullets and explosives so he establishes the resturant Spice of India in Maastricht Holland and he commited to it like his life depended on it just like he was used to from the army. I’m amazed by the experience and i’m astonished by the flavour. Thank you sir, you made our...

Probably the best Indian restaurant in the entire low lands. Very very tasty and they can really spice it up if you asked them to. I was pleasantly impressed. I am a very spicy eater and so’s my daughter, I cook very spicy Indian food at home. We were vacationing for a week between Amsterdam and Maastricht. Wherever we go and ask for spicy food, we always end up disappointed. But not this place, it wasn’t just spicy only but also very tasty. They have an excellent chef in the kitchen and my hats off to him. If you like it spicy, this is the place. But don’t worry, they won’t make it spicy unless you ask for it so white people need not sweat about it 😅

Finding Indian restaurant in Maastricht was surprising to me. Located in the city centre of Maastricht, walkable distance from the station as well as city centre. Quality and quantity both are good. Stuffs are very polite and helpful. Lots of options to choose in the menu. Generally they serve less spicy. If you like spicy, you need to specially ask them for more spicy. Interior is so nice, it will remind you some images of India. Outdoor sitting are also available but no of tables for outdoor are less. Overall good restaurant with tasty food. Highly recommended 👍.
