Pieke Potloed — Restaurant in Maastricht

The food is ok but their service is severely lacking. One of the dishes ordered was the bavette steak ( flank steak) and it was almost rare which I couldn't eat. I asked for medium and the server didn't mention it'll be cooked as almost raw. They took it back with the almost full plate with all the vegetable side and they brought back a replacement dish with ONLY the protein and no other accompanying sides and no sauce. I have never experienced such rude and poor service. I'm paying for the whole dish, not just the protein.. It was still cooked raw the second time and for the third time they brought back a slightly more cooked steak with nothing on the plate except the steak. I'm not sure if this is the European hospitality culture that you only get the specific item you complained but this is not right, certainly not the standard in North America we're used to. My experience at Pieke Potloed in Maastricht was thoroughly enjoyable. Great place! We sat by the bar but they've lovely restaurant as well, which is really bright during the day as it gets natural light from outside. It looked so nice and very well decorated. The food was really good. My friend had the zuurvlees and she loved it. The portion may look a little bit small when you first get it but it's very filling. I'd great pasta, super tasty and the local beer was very good. Highly recommend it! The service was excellent. Very good staffs. Even though we didn't have a reservation they organized a table for us straight away. I put 4 stars only because I'd appreciate if they were more vegetarian options on the menu, maybe a vegetarian pasta would...
