A lot of reviews regarding this Resort are from Timeshare owners who have a vested interest in over-hyping this place and conveniently leaving out important info.
I don't have such an interest.....
I stayed at this Resort for a week and here's my input.
Pro: -The staff truly are professional, from the front desk to the pool bar to the activities staff. They've obviously received good training. I had a hair raising occurrence(high pitched noise) at 9am on my first morning..I'm not a morning person. I immediately barked at the front desk and 2 min later the dude showed up with toilet pump replacement part in hand which took him all of 3 min to swap out..issue did not recur and for that I was truly grateful.
This part of Eagle beach is nice but it's rather average compared to other places I've stayed in at both Eagle and Palm Beach. There's no rock jetty's where fish tend to hang out so forget about snorkeling right off the beach.
The breakfast in the coffee shop was actually pretty good. Pancakes and omelettes were fine.
The parking situation was fine if you do rent a car.
Con: The units are really outdated and it shows. Everything was spotless but there were many things that really bothered me..The safe, which is from 1965, is in the closet and basically a foot off the floor(why?, I can't tell you). Having to bend over to access it multiple times a day was an inconvenience typical of my stay at this resort. And speaking of inconvenient, you had to get out of bed to turn off the light as the master switch was at the entrance to the room..Really? They did have lights on the headboard but like the overhead light, the on/off switch was by the door...So ridiculous and outdated. Not fun walking with your hands out in the dark so as to get back into bed. The TV is from like 1972..Bottom line is that instead of renovating the common area outside(they did recently build a new adult pool which was okay) they should hire both a design firm & a process efficiency expert to redo everything(Lights, safe, closet, shelves). I'd be happy to fill that roll as if anyone knows what needs to be done in those units it's me. Access to Palapas and pool side umbrellas/tables. This is an issue anywhere on the beach in Aruba..this I'm aware of. However it was way worse of an experience at this place during my week. People would queue up at like 4-5 am and frantically scamper to grab a shade providing spot..at both the beach and by the pool. Additionally as most of the guests had cliques that they've met up with for over 20 years, they would grab spots for each other. Totally not fair. The average age during my stay was like 70 so they're not up all hours of the night partying away and thus feel it's their right to grab those spots at 5am. It was really stressful having to deal with that on a daily basis. For god's sake, I was on vacation. And once someone threw their stuff down they'd take off and return whenever they cared to. There is a security detail that checks for this but these people have been going there for like 30 years so they know how to beat the system. The dearth of shaded places to sit was so bad that at the pool bar in the afternoon, I ate more than one lunch standing up. Ridiculous! The situation on the beach was just as bad(there were no Palapas after 8am) that there was an umbrella biz going on by the waters edge where for $30 every day, they'd throw down an umbrella for you. How ridiculous is that? And even that availability was uncertain as they sold out on occasion. So damn stressful and the Resort is well aware of this issue but choose not to resolve it. I ate at their flagship restaurant Las Ramblas one night and it was fine..overpriced like most places in Aruba but at least I got a seat..lol
Net net, I won't be returning to this Resort as the way the unit was setup and the lack of common sense processes was a deal breaker. Not to mention that the morning scramble for a spot that provided at least some sun protection was just too stressful. Maybe you'll have better...
Read moreWe arrived at La Cabanna for our annual stay on Aug 22, 2021. To our pleasant surprise our room was completely renovated with all new furniture, cabinetry, artwork and even dishwasher. Clean and modern just the way we like it. Check in was smooth, in our room within 15 minutes. What is a vacation without the people right!!! Well what would La Cabana be without THEIR TEAM……just another hotel. We spent the days having the time of our lives with the activities dream team Cathy, Nixon, Kaicey, Jean Luc and Lyz! Playing bingo by the pool, shirt cutting/tie-dyeing, and painting canvases! Probably my favorite part of the vacation! Having lifelong staff like Cathy and Nixon are like striking employee gold, spirited and loving, they always remember to welcome us back to the La Cabana family each year. My husband has been coming for the last 15 years and myself, the last 6 years. Every staff member from the bell men at a arrival, superb customer service, to the security guards by the pool has turned into family, regretful I didn’t get their names i will make sure to next time! Loving and attentive. Welcoming and truly amazing.
Magdalena, our room attendant, was without surprise THE BEST! She was always making sure we had whatever we needed. Room service was top notch. On vacation who wants to be constantly cleaning right?! With the full and partial service throughout the week our room was kept clean and it really took the load off of us so we didn’t have to be over preoccupied with housekeeping. She has such a warm and loving energy to her!
Our last night there we had an unexpected emergency, our daughter ended up with a very bad ear infection and bulging eardrum. Because of this it was Dr.‘s orders to not fly for a few more days. We had to extend our stay two nights at the last minute. Thank God for our La Cabana family!! They were able to accommodate us the two extra nights without having to switch rooms. They worked with my husband on a very modest price. The peace of mind they were able to deliver was truly priceless. The staff was genuinely concerned for our daughter. I’ve said it before and I will say it again the heart of the staff and team at La Cabana is a testament to the heart of the Arabian people! We will continue to come back and support your establishment and Aruba because of the unwavering love and support we receive every time we are there! Truly our home away from home💜
Covid testing. Simple straightforward. Staff was excellent with my daughter who happened to be a little nervous because it was her first time ever being tested. Also it doesn’t get easier than having it done at your own hotel! $50 and results same day.
Last and finally not least Row, our bell person when departing , what a great guy! Helped us pack up our car and sent us on our way to the airport with a the biggest smile. I can’t express to you enough that your employees are incredibly special. I’m not sure what the magic formula is over at La Cabana but what I do know is it is very real and we will keep coming back because of it! Sincerely, One...
Read moreI have stayed at this resort for three years in a row through BlueGreen. Typically, I would rate the property a 4 - 4.5 stars. With construction, I am rating it 3 stars. ||As of August, 2025, the property is undergoing construction, which includes the main pool area and several units. I was unaware of the construction at the time I made the reservation and only found out when checking in, which was really disappointing. I would not recommend staying here until the construction is finished. One of the staff members mentioned they were targeting October, but she thought it would be closer to December. | | - All restaurants are open (Eduardos, Las Ramblas, Islander Grill, Pata Pata Pool Bar, and Gelateria Italiana), but most are inconvenient to get to since the entrances are tucked away on one side of the property and the main pathway is blocked off for construction. || - There are two pools open - one for kids and the adult pool, which is currently open to everyone while the main pool is under construction. It is relatively small in size and felt overcrowded and less peaceful. The beach was also more crowded than normal - likely due to the pool being closed. The towel hut moved from the main pool area to the building across from the Gelateria towards the front entrance. ||- This year I stayed in a studio and as others mentioned, the walls between units are relatively thin. I could hear my neighbors but the noise from the units undergoing construction was far more prominent. I could hear constant drilling all day long. If you want to relax in your unit during the day this will be a pain point if you're staying nearby. ||The unit itself has plenty of cookware (plates, pots, pans, serve ware, glasses, etc.), a refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher (no oven). They provide a few coffee packets and a small sample size of salt and pepper. I wish there were other spices and oil/cooking spray in the unit so you didn't have to purchase an entire bottle for a short stay. The bed is extremely comfortable! ||The gym is fully equipped with a lot of weight machines, free weights, and cardio machines available. There were a few evenings when the gym was incredibly busy - I think the gym is open to everyone - not just guests staying at the resort. ||The location and Eagle beach are great places to be if you're staying in Aruba. The beach and water is beautiful! I typically rent a car when traveling to Aruba and La Cabana has plenty of parking available. If you decide not to rent a car from the airport, I think the property is relatively walkable once you arrive. The grocery store (Super Foods) is a short walk away and there are restaurant options onsite and nearby in both directions. You can also walk or rent a bike/scooter and head to the high rise hotel area for more restaurant options. Alternatively, the lobby has a concierge that can assist with a short-term car rental. ||If I visit again next year, I will definitely contact La Cabana to confirm the status of the construction...
