I’m sure you’ve picked up by now that I love breakfast. It’s my favourite meal for so many reasons (maybe I’ll do a separate blog on why, later), so finding a good breakfast place is always essential on our travels. We chose Baker & Moore based on location but the reviews were good and they have a pretty cool website (the salmon and egg toast on the main page - drool!). It’s an 11 minute walk from the train station and it was only a 4 minute walk in the direction of the train station from our hostel. We sat outside on their patio, since it was a beautiful sunny day. We enjoyed a cappuccino (mine with my oat milk) and ordered our breakfast. I made my own, which is a pretty cool option in my opinion; a gluten free bun, crispy bacon, avocado, boiled egg, spinach and truffle mayonnaise. It ended up being €9,00 which I thought was very reasonable for the quality of food and with my being able to choose exactly what I wanted. Trevor ordered the Brunch Platter. It was €11,90 and came with spelt toast, avocado mash, sriracha mayo, egg, yoghurt, home made granola, seasonal fruits, a fresh croissant, jam & butter (wow that was a mouthful!). I can’t remember if he added any meat to it, but he most likely did. It was also a busy spot, and a couple of people got turned away during our visit. So just be mindful that wherever you go in Rotterdam, it...

Unfriendly staff! I visited today, and since there were no free tables, I sat at one that hadn’t been cleaned yet. I politely asked the staff to clean the table, but two employees responded in a very rude and impolite manner, telling me it wasn’t smart to sit at an unclean table. I was very disappointed by their behavior and ended up leaving the café without order and unsatisfied.

Dear Baker&Moore,

Regarding your response to my previous review:

I completely disagree with your version of events. Allow me to clarify the situation:

When I entered the restaurant, no one greeted or asked me to wait for a clean table. I waited for a few minutes, and since no one from your staff approached me, I sat at the only available table, which was not clean. At no point did anyone inform me that the table would be cleaned shortly. I did not shout, as you claim. I politely asked the staff member at the bar, with a smile and in a normal tone, to clean the table. I approached the bar because no one from your staff had engaged with me after I entered the restaurant.

Your response does not reflect what actually happened, and I am disappointed that instead of apologizing, you have chosen to provide an inaccurate account of the situation. I stand by my review and hope you take this feedback seriously to improve your...

I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but this time it was too much. I also work in a restaurant so I know how it is. We arrived around 9.30, there were few tables outside and only one person in service. We waited like 15 minutes before she had the time to come to us. We ordered breakfast, it came pretty fast. The vegan bacon on my toast was completely burned (see pictures). I tried to catch the attention of the waitress to ask for new one, but she was very busy, so I waited other 10 minutes before she could come to our table. I showed her the bacon and asked for new one. She responded “this bacon was baked in a batch this morning, it is all like this”. I could not accept this answer and I literally dropped the bacon from my hand to the table to show her that it was a piece of burned material. I said that it is unacceptable to serve something like that in a restaurant. With an empty expression, she repeated like a machine “it is like this, the bacon is like this”. Honestly, I was shocked. When I went to pay (with her) she pretended that nothing happened. I’m very sorry for this place, because it’s very cute but the service and the quality of the food is very low. I’ve been here already quite few times and in general all the food is underwhelming and in...

Baker & Moore is a conveniently located spot, perfect for a relaxed breakfast or brunch in the city. I particularly enjoyed their Red Slowjuice, which was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. The breakfast platter was another highlight, offering a variety of tasty options that made it a satisfying and enjoyable choice to start the day. My husband tried the Grilled Baker. While it wasn’t entirely to his taste, he still finished the dish, which speaks to its overall quality even if it wasn’t a personal favourite. The atmosphere here is very casual and can be very busy with young families with kids, but it is an easy place to settle in without feeling rushed. I also loved the abundance of greenery in their décor, which gave the space a fresh, welcoming, and vibrant feel. Overall, our visit was a very pleasant experience. Between the convenient location, refreshing drinks, and well-prepared breakfast options, I would happily return on a future trip to the city.
