Fenix Food Factory — Restaurant in Rotterdam

One of the worst dining experiences I have had in my life. I advise everyone to stay clear.

Note: this is a rebrand of the old Fenix Food Factory. They’ve slightly changed location and do not resemble it’s former incarnation. Most positive reviews are based on its former location. Beware.

Here they sell a 1 euro pre-made frozen pizza from a supermarket for 12 euros and then brand it as a 'pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil'. After the first bite, the lack of quality was obvious.

The pizza literally tastes like the cheapest pizza you can find at a budget supermarket, including the tasteless sauce and preformed factory bottom. For show, they add a few slices of fresh mushroom on it. The truffle oil is otherwise impossible to taste.

I felt like they should have paid me for eating this pizza instead and did not finish it. Fenix Food Factory, if you're serving me a frozen pre-made pizza anyway, please invest a euro more and do it with something of higher quality.

If I had to describe this place in one word, it would be "indie". There are a bunch of small food places in this old warehouse al with their own particular food. From bread to vegetables and from cheese to spices, everyone will find something they love here. And for people who just want to explore, you can 'buy a plank' and go around getting small things to eat from all the places there. The atmosphere is just amazing, this is a place I would visit more often if it wasn't so far away (from my home), but this is something a tourist shouldn't miss. The view on Rotterdam's high-rise buildings and hotel New York just across the water is also wonderful.
