Frites Unique — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Good place by the old part of Rotterdam that wasn't burned down during ww2. The building is Art Deco style if I'm not mistaken, and the surrounding area is pretty fancy so it's a nice view to look at. It's a nice little shop with quality fries and plenty of side dishes.

The fries are tasteful and we'll fried, so none of that sloppy stuff. Herein also lies the only reason why I give it 4/5 stars: the fries are slightly too fat for my taste. That could be due to the type of potato or frying fat, but that does not mean it is not a very good product.

The shop itself is not large, and with current Covid conditions it cannot house customers. However there are plenty of seats and tables outside, and of course the option for takeaway.

Drinks menu is the standard Cola Fanta etc, and the side dishes are what you can expect, but all in very good quality.

In short, a nice shop situated in a wealthy old neighborhood that serves...

The people behind the counter are lovely people. They are incredibly friendly and greet you with a smile. They have a HUGE menu. If you don't know Dutch you'll have a hard time ordering. The fries are probably the best I've tried. It is so crispy and perfectly salted. They serve it hot right out of the fryer. We got their peanut sauce. It was very mildly spicy. We heard so much about the infamous fries with spicy peanut sauce we just had to try it in the best voted fries place in Rotterdam. The sauce definitely complimented the taste of the fries. Would have been better if it was a little more spicy. We just tried their fries but you get a lot of other stuff too. I've heard a lot of good things about their milkshake.

Nice staff that is very funny and friendly. I ordered the fries with Japanese pulled chicken. One portion is enough for 2 people as a snack or one very hungry person. The fries were crispy and the chicken was tender. While waiting outside in the sun I ordered a soft serve ice cream cone. The ice was a bit on the soft side but still tasty.
