Finally visited this restaurant and here I come with my thoughts on it.
Atmosphere- 100/10, they have huge space, beautiful interiors, very lively, seating available outside on the side of canal. But I have never seen them taking walk-in. I tried twice but they denied, I saw too many empty tables whenever we tried to visit but all have “reserved” plate. I then decided to make reservations and when I was sitting there I saw few people walking-in but was getting denied for the reason no table. Again same, too many were vacant. Not sure why they are following this concept because at tourist spot not everyone will come with reservations, especially when you are setting your foot into market and not a very established restaurant already.
Service- 100/10. Super quick, very attentive staff and have good knowledge of what’s in the menu.
Food- 6/10. This is a fusion restaurant, so maybe I like one of their fusion and not the other one. I tried Portebello with Croissant and Apple Pie American Pancake. When I saw pictures online I thought of a big croissant like how usually they are but it was more like a small bun. Taste was good, mushroom was juicy, egg was perfectly cooked, all together good dish. Talking about pancake, I didn’t enjoy it much. It was very sticky to my teeth, very thick and...
Read moreI truly believe this is the kind of place we lacked in the very heart of Rotterdam - a go-to place for a quick breakfast if you have errands in the centre, lunch with a colleague, or dinner with a friend and a glass of cocktail. I love the concept, and I love how stylish, spacious and modern the interior is! They are laptop friendly as well if you want to come and work for a while. I tried Apple pie American pancakes, which I liked, but I’d also appreciate it if there was an alternative savoury option of pancakes, not just sweet ones. My friend had English sausage in a croissant - you can choose a serving option between a croissant, brioche and a bagel, which is an excellent addition to the menu. The coffee might have been a bit with the sour aftertaste, which my friend also confirmed, as it was also too contrasting for me after the sweet pancakes. I noticed the interesting range of desserts - finally, something beyond apple pie and a cheesecake. I didn’t get a chance to try any as I was quite full, but seeing a new approach is exciting for me. Since the place is much more than a brunch place and I only had a taste of breakfast, it’s hard for me to rate it higher, as I cannot speak for the lunch and dinner options. Still, I’m excited to come back to give...
Read moreThe food is lovely, and most of the staff are very accommodating. However, when my mother (who was visiting me) and I walked in and asked for a table, the manager with black hair was INCREDIBLY rude. Without a ‘hello’ or ‘welcome’, she kind of shouted at us to follow her. One of the waitresses chatted to us for literally 20 seconds as she was handing us our drinks. This manager was looking over her shoulder like a hawk and staring at both her and us, with a dirty look. I overheard this woman reprimand the waitress for this, even though this girl was just doing her job?
It’s such a shame because I really do enjoy the food and it’s clear that the rest of the staff have to deal with this bullish (and definitely unnecessary) behaviour on the daily. I will never return and I hope this woman cops on a bit, and realises customers aren’t stupid and we do pick up on these things, as they can ruin an otherwise lovely experience. Once again I will stress that this waitress and all the other staff were very nice, they deserve much...
