I recently visited the restaurant for brunch with my boyfriend after it was recommended by his friend. The ambiance and location are indeed beautiful.

However, our experience took a turn for the worse when two wasps repeatedly attacked our food and us. As someone with PTSD related to wasps, I was extremely stressed and scared. My boyfriend tried hard to keep them away, but they wouldn’t leave us alone. Despite witnessing our struggle, the staff walked away without offering any help. When we asked for assistance, they just told us it was "natural" and handed us an empty glass to catch the wasps ourselves.

While I understand that dealing with wasps outdoors can be challenging, I would have appreciated some effort from the staff to show they care about our situation. Eventually, they moved us inside after 10 minutes being suffering, but by then, our experience had already been negatively affected.

This lack of support made me feel embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable in a public setting. I couldn’t help but wonder if my ethnicity played a role in the staff's dismissive attitude. I truly hope that wasn’t the case, but it’s difficult not to question it when you’re treated so poorly.

While the location and atmosphere were nice, the service left much to be desired. The lack of empathy and assistance from the staff ruined what should have been an enjoyable meal. I hope this feedback may contribute to improving their...

Considering the reviews we seem to have been the unlucky ones. We booked a table for 5 people for dinner to celebrate a special birthday. Upon arrival, we received a table for 4 with an additional seat at the side, a bit to narrow and not in line with the budget you pay a at this restaurant. We had to wait around 15 minutes before our order was taken, considered we were the last ones and it was pretty quiet, we expected maybe some more customer minded focus. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cosy and quiet. We had to wait more than 70 minutes before our dinner arrived, for 5 people we received a small bowl of fries, 2 additional bowls were promised but were only delivered more than 10 minutes later, which was again very sad considering the prices. The taste of the food was high standard, however the temperature was not, the food was lukewarm. Since it was 9pm30 we continued eating (our bad) and I mentioned the sad event of occasions when they came to clean the table. Instead of a customer minded apology, there was more a defence of that it was too little too late to complain. The restaurant has high potential, but if (and which can happen) you make a mistake, own it and don't go in stupid defence modus without any reason. For a dinner of around 250€ we expected another...

Part 1 Just stopped by for a quick lunch and wasn't expecting much but walked away full and happy. It was crowded, as expected for a Sunday so we ate at the bar. Very good choice since you can feel the vibes of the place, It was busy but the owner (Bas) made time to stop by and talk We had excellent food and service from the "team". We highly recommend if you are looking for good food, lively atmosphere, and great music, they'll even share their spotify track list if you ask..

Part 2 Returned the next day for drinks and snacks because we had such a good time the day before, This time we met John the co-owner and had another fantastic time with drinks, food, and conversation. Servers Robin and Martyn were very busy but, once things slowed down, we had a great time talking with them. We heard they are opening up a 2nd place called Franklin in the part of the city with streets named after inventors. After we closed out our bill John popped open another bottle of wine to share with us,

If you are in the area and from out-of-town (or country like us), stop in and have a drink and some food, The whole "team" makes you feel like you are back at your favorite home bar or restaurant. Great food or snacks, reasonable prices, and very...

I recently visited this delightful cafe for a breakfast date and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The staff was attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed and checking in on us just the right amount without being intrusive. The highlight of my meal was definitely the Eggs Florentine, which were simply divine. The dish consists of perfectly poached eggs served on a soft brioche, topped with fresh spinach and a generous drizzle of rich hollandaise sauce. Every bite was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, making it a memorable dish that I would highly recommend. To complement our meal, we ordered fresh orange juice, which was refreshingly delicious. We chose to sit on the terrace, which, despite being small and situated on the street, had a cozy and charming atmosphere. This cafe is definitely a lovely spot for a breakfast date, whether with friends or someone special. The combination of excellent food, cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service makes it a place I would return to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a leisurely morning meal in a welcoming setting.

Walter Benedict is a lovely-looking café bistro in a fine dining area of The Hague. When I previously tried to reserve a table, it required a €15 deposit. Interestingly enough, when I booked recently for the 16:00 slot, no deposit was required. The kitchen closes at 15:30 and reopens at 17:30. While the lunch menu states that lunch service ends at 15:30, there is no such indication on the dinner menu. We were greatly disappointed when all we could order were small bites. To avoid spoiling the mood, my friend and I ordered a nice bottle of wine to accompany the pâté, cheese selection, and sourdough bread. The portion sizes were decent, and the food was tasty. The sourdough bread was super crunchy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. However, the steep cost did not match the food and overall experience. For the sake of clarity, it might be helpful to state “bar” on the reservation slot during the kitchen’s closure, as “restaurant” suggests food will be available. Additionally, adding service times to the dinner menu would be useful. Otherwise, it’s a nice venue, and I would consider revisiting when the kitchen is open.
