O.M.G. if a dinner could get any more perfect I'd be there. When Service is delivered with care, belief in the product that is being served, good humour and a genuine interest in the customer, and a desire for a perfect mea, then only the food can let down the overall experience ... spoiler alert... the food excelled!
Tomas began the groundwork the day before when he squeezed us to get in on a Sunday Night, he built on that initial experience with the nod to our initial banter and then Senna provided the icing on the cake with her delightful attitude, air and professionalism. She made a great night even more perfect.
Food - where can I start? When asked which dish I liked the best, I honestly couldn't seperate them. I am convinced that whatever you order... you will enjoy. If you don't, then your tastebuds may need an adjustment...🤣
We have dined in restaurants worldwide and we are both in awe of this Den Haag legend, no wonder it is hard to get in to!
All the previous positive comments are justified.
A truly iconic restaurant experience; Food, Wine, Service, Ambience all 100/100.
Well done Team Dekxels.
Update: We came back for a 2nd round the next night - conclusion : Still Spectacular on all levels and the Signature Cauliflower is DEFINITELY worth it, a...
Read moreWe were on a long vacation in the Netherlands, and our last stop was The Hague. Our hotel recommended we try Dekxels, as they believed it is a unique experience. We agree! My partner and I really enjoyed the menu at Dekxels. We tried new tastes and new ways of mixing ingredients up. The restaurant is well designed, and most waiters and waitresses are friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to the menu.
However, my 3 stars review is due to the fact that our assigned waitress was EXTREMELY rude with us, for no apparent reason, and this downgraded our experience.
We were in a hurry, and the place was packed. We had gently asked her to list the dessert options for us, as we could not wait for the yo yo of getting us the menu and catching her again to place our dessert order.
So when I asked her if she could orally list the desserts so we could choose one on the spot, she abruptly interrupted me, and said: " yes of course i am going to get you the menu, otherwise I can not get you your dessert if I don't know what you want!" She immediately stormed out and rolled her eyes, and got us the menu. A series of rude actions then followed this incident.
All this rendered me shocked and unable to grasp what just happened, and very uncomfortable...

We ordered tuna tartare, scallops and curry. For drinks, we had the tokyo mule and a glass of red wine.
Tuna tartare: This is by no means tuna tartare. Yes, they claim to be a fusion and all but this dish is not tuna tartare. It's more like a poke bowl. They serve a very tiny small amount of tuna which is minced/ground and not diced! Even more surprisingly the tuna is served over sushi rice and the whole fish is dressed in some sauce overpowering the dish. Please, dont't order this or don't expect to receive a nice tuna tartare. This dish is a very small portion of poke bowl.
Scallops: Scallops are so small, we were wondering where in heavens have they found such small scallops! Again, they are served over a very sweet sauce overpowering the dish. In the end you'd only taste the sauce and not the truffle, nor the scallops.
Massaman Curry: The dish was not bad, overall. The rice side is way too small for the curry but not a bad dish; nothing special, either.
Tokyo mule cocktail: To me, half of what makes a cocktail nice to drink is presentation. This cocktail looks very average. Taste was average, too.
Place: very crowded and narrow but I wouldn't care if the...
