Summary: Definitely worth your money! A perfect trade of between an outstanding kitchen, professional service and still a cozy atmosphere (which is actually better than in most michelin restaurants in our opinion...) Excellent food and drinks (mocktails! special wines!), good options for vega(n)s and beautiful location adds up to the dining experience.
We've had our wedding drinks and family dinner (14 p) here over a month ago and it couldn't have been any better! Their reservation system for groups works really good and was updated everytime we had questions. They did even more than necessary to make our difficult (handicapped) guests feel welcome. (note: the toilet is a bit difficult) Having been here before as well and still having good memories of those evenings too.
Their home made snacks, drinks and the option menu for groups were amazing (and our standard is high). Vegans and people with diets also just blend in the regular options. The service was spot on; professional but personal and with creative thinking ahead, which made us and our guests enjoying our moments together to the max. It was all so remarkably good that all our wedding guests made us lots of compliments days afterwards!
We were one of the lucky ones to get a call the day before our wedding that the church had the chapel available for us, so we had a private dining experience here in a stunning and less noisy environment. (it is not theirs, but they may use it sometimes last minute)
To the team: thanks a lot from the bottom of our hearts. You've really made our wedding and family dinner unforgettable. Wishing you all the best in lockdown and...
Read moreTonight we ate dinner with our new friends from Zebedeus. We got there late (we're working) but the host, Martijn gladly sat us. We quickly ordered appetizers for the table combined with our meal as the kitchen was closing imminently. All our food came out at once (at our request, so the kitchen could close on time) and it was kind of a dream. There were four of us. Three of us shared Dry aged Côte de Bœuf for 2, and our fourth enjoyed the Zoete aardappel, a sweet potato curry vegetarian dish. Along with th one we had Krab beignets, a watermelon salad, and an avocado salad and French fries. Everything was prepared to perfection. The food and wine was delicious from first bite to forks down. We capped off the night with some deserts and whiskey.
One of the best parts about this dining experience is the location. The restaurant is in an auxiliary space in the Grote Jacobskerk Church. The earliest parts of the church started construction in 1337. it's an incredibly old building and the area is part of the city center so there is shopping all around along with other restaurants and points of interests. The walk from my hotel was short and comfortable. It's very easy to find and everything about the food and the experience leaves me wanting to go back several t times to try more of the menu. If you're in The Hague I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. The kitchen closes slightly early (9:30PM) so get there early evening, sit out under the stars with great food and the best...
Read moreZebedeus is a wonderfully inviting cosy little restaurant nestled into an old church close to the Hague city centre. As much as I like to explore for new places I make Zebedeus my restaurant of choice at least once on every visit to The Hague thanks to a compelling combination of outstanding service, gluten free safety, delicious dishes and a warm, relaxing environment in which to enjoy eating.
Great for business dinners, great for romantic couples or meetings with friends and perhaps best of all, a truly welcoming place for eating solo. Whilst small inside the tables are spaced well apart allowing for easy conversation at normal speaking volumes. The intimate lighting, absence of loud music, smart and comfortable decor and variety of table sizes help make it a pleasure to dine here.
The Zebedeus Pecan Pie is the single best Pecan Pie I have eaten anywhere, ever. It is not good considering it is gluten free. It is simply great. No qualifiers needed. If you visit and have any love for pie plan your meal carefully and leave room for the Pecan Pie. Do this and thank me, seriously. Oh, but if I am visiting at the same time, do not, please do not, take the last...
