De Lola Pods Hotel — Hotel in The Hague

You get what you pay for. The location of the hostel is great, very centrally located in Den Haag about 1.5km walk from the central train station. Every bed space is private with a curtain. However, that's where the positives end. Expect to pay for every little amenity.

Rooms and beds: There's only one large room for all the single pods and one large room for all the double pods. So really, there's less privacy overall compared to standard dorms. Each pod had a light, wireless charger for phones and a USB 2 outlet. There's no electrical outlet and no place to hang anything, so good luck drying your towels. I left the light on inside my pod because the rooms are very dimly lit, but someone (presumably a staff member) climbed into my pod while I was gone and turned it off. This felt to me a violation of privacy.

Storage: There's only small lockers that don't really lock well. If you have anything larger than a small backpack you can either leave it unsecured or pay 13 euros per day for a locker.

Showers and toilets: The showers are set on automatic timers with no hot/cold water control. For 3 days the water for showering was lukewarm at best. The shower stalls are small and narrow with only 2 hook hangers, so you have to be careful to avoid getting your towels and clothes wet when showering. Theres no shampoo or body wash provided, so bring your own. There's no separate men and women's restrooms. There are no sanitary bins in the toilet stalls, so feminine waste has to be thrown out into the general trash. There's no paper towels or hand dryers in the bathroom.

It's a brand new hostel, so I hope they'll take into consideration feedback and make improvements. I personally would prefer to pay a little more for some better service and amenities. The common area is nice and chic, but you don't see many people hanging around. I think that speaks to the culture the hostel has established of penny-pinching rather than making people...

Was man mitbringen sollte und dann kommt die Rezension: Gute Laune. Offenheit. Toleranz. Wechselsachen. Ein Schloss für den Zimmerspint. Ein geladenes Handy, oder einen großen USB-Anschluss (der kleine USB-Anschluss ist noch nicht vorhanden und es gibt eine Wireless-Ladestation), falls man im Bett noch am Handy chillen will. ggf. Ohrenstöpsel, wenn man bei jedem Atemzug von anderen aufwacht (bei uns waren aber alle durchweg respektvoll und wir wurden durch die Ruhe angesteckt, die auf den Zimmern herrschte!). Wer nicht so mobil ist und nicht so gut klettern kann, wählt besser eine Kapsel unten.

Was man antizipieren könnte: Keine knisterndem Hosen anziehen. Die Tasche vor dem Zimmer packen oder bevor alle schlafen. Reißverschlüsse außerhalb der Zimmer zumachen. Wecker nicht zu laut stellen. Vibration am Handy ausschalten. Sex geht auch leise. Falls man schnarcht, könnte man auch nicht nur auf dem Rücken schlafen. Die Zimmer und Toiletten sowie Duschen so verlassen, wie sie aufgefunden wurden. Sich einfach respektvoll verhalten, denn:

Ich würde an dieser Stelle gar nicht so viel schreiben wie sonst: Das Preis-Leistings-Verhältnis im mega! Die komplette Aufmachung des Hotels hat uns total überrascht! Das Bett war super bequem! Alles war sauber! Alle Menschen waren freundlich! Und alles, was man an dieser Stelle kritisieren könnte, hat mit Respekt und Erwartungen zu tun!

Man könnte kritisieren, dass... ... jemand im Zimmer schnarcht. ... jemand in Zimmer laut ist. ... jemand morgens vor einem aufsteht. ... jemand neben einem auf Toilette sitzt. ... jemand neben einem duscht. ... jemand wieder nicht richtig abgespült hat, bevor das Personal das gesehen hat. ... jemand das Waschbecken dreckig hinterlassen hat. ... jemand anderes einfach respektlose Dinge getan hat.

Aber hey, das hat ALLES mit Erwartungen zu tun! Die Aufmachung des Hotels ist so, deswegen sollte man sich vorher drauf einstellen und diese "gemeinschaftlichen Dinge" nicht kritisieren, sondern diese als Teil der einmaligen Erfahrung sehen - oder einfach für den DOPPELTEN Preis woanders übernachten!

Das Hotel ist offen für alle! Das Hotel ist tolerant! Das Hotel achtet auf Nachhaltigkeit! Das Hotel ist günstig! Das Hotel stellt Handtücher! Das Hotel stellt Bettwäsche! Das Hotel stellt Steckdosen! Das Hotel stellt Wireless-Ladegeräte in jeder Kapsel! Das Hotel stellt eine cool Chillarea! Das Hotel stellt eine 24-h-Rezeption! Das Hotel ist 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt! Das Hotel besitzt Snacks und Getränke! Das Hotel besitzt Bücher, einen Kicker, etc. Das Hotel, ach schaut einfach auf den Fotos!

Anders ausgedrückt: Während ich diese Rezension im Flixbus schreibe, schläft meine Freundin und eine andere Person kommt auf die Idee Kekse zu essen, und JEDES MAL knisternd in die Tüte zu greifen, ohne es zu merken. Bekommt der Flixbus dann ne schlechte Bewertung? 😅 Macht euch vorher Gedanken, bevor ihr die Bewertung dieses Hotels herunterzieht! Alles, was man an diesem Hotel kritisieren kann, liegt an falschen Erwartungen, an respektlosen Menschen oder an den zufälligen Umständen: It's all about what...

Staffs were nice but other than that there’s nothing to say about. Beds are right next to the toilets&shower booths u can literally hear someone farting. Bed space is always cold.(summer around in 20-21) Music is turned on till late night, and door is quite heavy so when anyone opens the door, it slams. At first night, someone opened my curtain and immediately ran away. Someone might be confused with their bed number or they really mean to steal something idk. Be aware of your belongings. There’s no free locker. One is 7-8 euros per 8 hrs, and the one that are free, u should take your lock or they sell it for 4.5 euros. Additionally, there’s no basket or space to put ur clothes while u take shower(and it’s facing toilets), no basic shampoo.
