Bastacosi — Restaurant in Utrecht

I loved my pizza (acciughe), the beer, and I really appreciated the good and particularly friendly service.

The pizza crust is thin, without bubbles or giant burned spots: it is cooked to perfection. What impressed me was how the ingredients melted together. The cheese (authentic), the fresh basil, and the eggplant came together nicely to tame the sharp taste of anchovies. It was a feast for my sense of taste.

There are some traditional options on the menu, like Margherita, and other options that are unique to Basta Così. The owner must be in love with pizza to create such a perfectly balanced combination of ingredients. Good job!

Also, I did not get the name of the waitress, who was super friendly, but she works there on Wednesdays. Cato was the cook and I really need to say: "hats off, thank you for the masterpieces."

I highly recommend Basta Così. It was recommended to me as the best pizza in town.

Now Google is asking me to update my review after some 6 months. Well, Basta Così is a regular destination for us. I have tried other dishes that were really good, but my favorite is still the pizza acciughe. Whenever I'm asked for a good pizza recommendation I don't hesitate to send...

Een pizza afgehaald op aanraden van een vriendin. Wilde graag de funghi (met paddenstoelen) en bestelde daar nog extra parmaham bovenop. Ik had de hele dag uitgekeken naar mijn pizza moment dus een grote zou er ook wel in gaan. Ik betaalde 14 euro, prima dan verwacht ik ook wat. Eenmaal thuis zag ik dat er geen tomatensaus op de pizza zat en na het menu nog eens te hebben doorgelezen bleek dat ook precies de bedoeling. Oke een nieuwe pizza ervaring en nog steeds hoopvol neem ik mijn eerste hap. Ik was er al snel uit dat een pizza zonder tomatensaus niet zo mijn ding was maar gaf het wederom een nieuwe kans. Mijn uiteindelijke pizza ervaring bij Bastacosi is teleurstellend. Doordat de meeste ingrediënten in het midden lagen creëerde dit een korstrand van ruim 4 cm, dit vond ik ook jammer. Thuis heb ik hem opnieuw in de oven moeten stoppen en heb ik maar wat extra paprika en ui bij gedaan om het wat op te fleuren. Ik zou nog het een en ander kunnen benoemen maar dat lijkt mij niet nodig, Bastacosi is gewoon niet mijn ding. Houd je van buitengewone pizza en leuk personeel dan is dit een tent voor jou! Maar geef mij maar een pizza met...

As a pizza lover who has been to more than seven pizzerias of different levels and nationalities in Utrecht, I can say this pizza is unbeatable. It's more delicious and digestible than 99.99% of pizzas out there. The staff is super friendly, and they speak good English and Dutch. I'll be back!

P.S. Try the one with mascarpone, pine nuts, green pesto, and pastrami—it's so good you'll end up licking...
