The Mission Thai — Restaurant in Ōrākei

The food was good, but unfortunately, the service and beer were a let down.

We ordered a jug of Heineken Silver to share, but as soon as we took a sip, we all noticed something was off. It had a distinct sour aftertaste. Concerned it might be off, we returned it to the bar and requested to exchange it for Tiger beer instead. After some discussion involving the manager, and the owner, we were told that the beer tastes the way it’s supposed to. We even offered to purchase a bottle of Heineken Light to compare, but they declined, stating that tap and bottled beer are different.

It felt a bit like being told, "That's how it's meant to taste," when returning a dish that clearly doesn’t taste right. We were disappointed not only with the refusal to accommodate a reasonable request but also with how dismissive the response was. Overall, a letdown in terms of service. 🙁

Note: we still ended up paying for the beers after returning it

Question to the restaurant: When was the last time the beer tap lines were cleaned or serviced? The off taste in the Heineken Silver suggests they might...

First time here with friends for lunch.

I really like their som tum papaya salad(too small portions), they actually use real papaya which was outstanding instead of carrots. Pad thai was good too but I’ve had better with extra tofu and bigger portions at our usual take away place in Glendowie. Larb Gai was ok but too small for the price again compared to the take away place in Glendowie.however we really dislike their thai signature dish, it was bland, it didnt look great and expensive/small portions too. Uncooked mushroom and mushy king prawn. I would suggest to re-do their Tom yum goong recipe. I understand that they have the best location and higher rent place but in order to attract more customer and more local customers, they should make the price and portions...

This lovely Thai is our favourite local family dinner place. Amazing food. I keep going back to the duck curry which is to die for. The pork ribs are sensational. The whole menu is extensive, sensational and reasonably priced with good sized servings. You do have to pay extra for rice. However, it then allows you to chose coconut, sticky or plain rice snd others. Plus not expensive.

Service is super quick and the staff are just gorgeous. Friendly and attentive and more than happy to assist with anything you need with a smile. Interior is beautiful and clean. With some lower lighting, candles and music would be an incredible romantic date night restaurant. Best in the bays. Love love love ❤️ Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back. Might have to make this our family...
