Bronco's Steak House — Restaurant in Ōtara-Papatoetoe

Worst restaurant/pub experience ever. I don't ever give out 1 star but this one is a 100% deserved. Which is a shame, they used to be good years ago.

Valentines day, booked table for 2. After about 15 mins, went inside asking for service and water. Ordered the drinks, came about 15 minutes later. In between, we had waiters going up and down asking who's order... the meals and drinks go up and down constantly, they waiters don't even know where the orders are going. Waited for our entre (crumbed camembert) - was stone cold. Sent it back, the new one came in around 5-10 mins. Ordering was a pain, because all the menus are faded! Not just ours, pretty much all of them. After about 70 minutes, we asked where our 2nd round of drinks were, which is when we were told there was a line and wait for drinks... HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO POUR A CAN OF COKE AND A HANDLE OF BEER?! We cancelled our order, the fact that we were expected to wait for a 2nd round of drinks 1.5 hrs in, and only up to 1 entree so far. We had to ask for our water. The service was shambolic. The orony is that all the items were against our table when we were shown the bill. WHICH HAD ITEMS WE HADN'T EVEN HAD OR THEY HAD BEGUN. Couple behind me: They had the wrong order given about 3 times, they cancelled their mains and cut their night short.

Couple behind my wife: The guy had to go looking for menus and water. Their lamb was cold but they put up with it. It was so much of a joke, all the diners around us were sharing their bad interactions/meals whilst dining!

Couple left to us: I feel sorry for these two. Her drink came 20 mins before his beer - which he had to ask for. His side of mushrooms came so early that the cream looked like cold sour cream. Their garlic bread came at the end of their meal, once they had finished eating the mains!

Group diagonal to us: They had to get their own menus after waiting around. Food turned away for being cold and coming at the end of the rest of the group eating. Then one of them got her can of coke after realising it never came - very expensive 'coke to go' (on the way out when we were paying).

To sum it up, you can't even spend money if you tried. Most meals turned up wrong/cold or much too late. Drinks were few and far in between, don't bother going to the bar, the staff were running around like headless chickens. No one actually runs this place, its just chaos possibly the worst...

My review is about the terrible lack of service. Last night my son wanted to take me out to dinner some where nice, I suggested Broncos as my husband and I go there whenever we can as we love the food, service and atmosphere. Last night was the exception as far as the service went, it was terrible, especially since there were a lot of wait staff standing around in a group yakking most of the time we were there. After we were seated we were asked if we would like a drink which was brought to us very quickly and then we gave our order, My son wanted the pumpkin in his vegetables swapped for some extra broccoli which the waitress said was fine. Dinner arrived in a good amount of time but with no broccoli on my sons plate, the waitress said it was going to be a few minutes as it was going to be served as a side dish (I didn't really understand why) We also were not given or asked if we would like any water which is usually done there. We were also not given or offered the trio bottles of sauce, which is also usually done. We started to eat our meals slowly while waiting for my sons broccoli to arrive, My son had a bit of cauliflower and a bit of steak left on his plate when I had to finally ask where the broccoli was, and could we also have the trio of sauces, it finally arrived with an apology for it taking so long,then the she left, without asking if we would like more drinks. There were 4 waitresses standing around yakking and not one of them bothered to come and ask if our meals were ok or would we like anything else. I then had to call over a waitress and ask for the sauces and another drink and my son asked for some water. Needless to say that dinning experience has put my son off wanting to go back there again, It was not good customer service at all and I was very disappointed especially after convincing him to go there in the first place, one good thing I do have to say is that the food was good like it always is. On arrival we were asked if we had a booking, but there were heaps of vacant tables. Ordered our meals, our usual, my friend had her usual seafood crepes, well I looked at it & said that doesn't look like what you normally get, looked like the crepes had been microwaved with yellow cheese, the salad was just thrown on the plate where it used to come in its own separate bowl. My friend asked for the Broncoes dressing in the bottle, was told the dressing was already on salad, he brought out dressing in a tiny jug! My friends Mum & I had Lamb Shank, very disappointed, we have also had these before, the meat normally falls off the bone, these shanks looked old, the meat was hard! Placed on an abundance of mashed potato. The service I would not rate highly as other occasions we were always served with a smile and asked how our meals were, last night, the waiter just took our orders, and brought out our food. My friends Mum and I decided to try the desserts we normally have had, we were waiting and waiting to be served, till we had to call the waiter over. Our desserts were served to the couple behind us, till we noticed and told the waitress "they are ours", we should of asked for new servings especially in these Covid times.The pavlova used to come out presented beautifully on a plate, this time in a bowl, smothered in so much whipped cream & no presentation, we also got banana split, the banana was old and again hidden by too much whipped cream. Very disappointed, looked forward to a great Broncos experience but I will never return, they better get there act together or they will lose many loyal customers . When our main meals were served we did ask had the restaurant changed hands, it certainly has, unfortunately the new owners haven't taken on board the great family restaurant...
