We had pink smoothie green smoothie eggs bene and scrambled eggs and bacon.
Sparkling water. Free!
Amazing service and quick food delivery. The eggs bene looked beautiful but my son didn't like the kale or the thicker bacon rashers. I think those are more personal reasons as the food was still tasty.
My meal of scrambled eggs and bacon with sourdough was beautiful. The eggs were fluffy and the sourdough was fresh. The bacon was nice and thick.
The smoothies were lovely and it's awesome that we were offered still or sparkling water at no charge.
Only low of the meal was the seating. The cafe was busy so there were only 2 x 2 seater tables available. Which are small. We were a party of 3. There were many large tables taken by single one-party customers. And some groups of 2 at 6-person tables. We squeezed another chair in and made room but it was cramped.
It would be nice if people were more mindful of their table choices when eating out...
Read moreEgg Bene Club - Auckland Well, the scores are back in and it is a shock. I think there was agreement the location etc has huge potential. But comments included Staff slow but friendly Too little Hollandaise (cardinal sin) Eggs slightly overcooked Salmon warmed - Good, Potato Cake - Too Much Ambiance poor viewing Would not give me Scrambled Eggs on Bene :-( good they had a petite sizing and price $12
My comments I think the layered Potato cake slab is nice for presentation but fell down on flavor. If you are going to offer Tofu as a menued alternative to Bacon, a thin tasteless 2x3 cm slice does not cut it.
Slightly surprisingly Geeks on Sainsbury came in at 6.4 out of 10
which puts it in 3rd place behind Fridge at 6.8 and the pacesetting Petit Bocal 9.3. If they had put in the effort to make his scrambled eggs (3min job) they would have been well...
Read moreGeeks has a lovely feel to it when you walk in the door. Very fresh, light and open. The staff were all very friendly and smiley, lovely to chat with. My friend ordered the mushrooms on toast and I ordered the pork salad. Both were delicious! The mushroom dish was juicy, well seasoned and the sauce had a balanced cheesy flavour. It also came with bread and bacon. The pork dish was visually impressive with edible flowers to garnish. The pork patty was crispy on the outside thanks to the sunflower seed coating and had a chilli bite which I was not expecting but was a nice surprise. The roasted parsnip and greens were dressed lightly in a vinaigrette. We cleaned our plates! I still had room for dessert so I picked a peanut butter cupcake. It wasn't super sweet which was fine and the peanut flavour was subtle. A lovely looking cupcake! I'm keen to come here again...
