Wunderbar — Restaurant in Banks Peninsula Community

14/04/2016 - I wanted to come here and I finally got the chance to do it. It is located on the top floor, above Supervalue supermarket.

It is a funky bar (with lots of neon lights!) located in Lyttelton, overlooking the port. There's an outdoor smoking area with excellent outdoor view. Inside, there's a pool table and table football for the customers to enjoy + occasional live band (semi professional) playing there.

There is a huge selection of beers and hard liquors but limited wine selection (which doesn't worry me as I'm a beer person 😜).

Would I go back?...

Attended a gig for the first time at Wunderbar and the view over the Port is amazing! You have to see for yourself 😊 Such perfect timing to be able to watch the sunset, atmosphere of the place was welcoming and people were great. Staff are inviting and service was lovely. It is a little small specially if your holding a gig with only one toilet and small separate closed in room that couldn't hold everyone attending. But the balcony was perfect for getting fresh air, star gazing and a pool table to enjoy a few games. Overall a lovely...

The Wunderbar is an excellent venue for up and coming artists of virtually any nature. What they have done for the NZ Music scene is nothing short of incredible. They have encouraged many local artists to "take that first step". The Wunderbar has a great bunch of local punters that are filled with extreme stories, and we as a band have certainly got our own set of hilariously good times in there.
