I recently visited Nandos in Rotorua on Anzac Day, and I have to say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, the staff's behavior was rude and disrespectful, making us feel like we didn't belong there. Not only that, but we experienced blatant racism in their attitude and behavior.

First off, the staff wouldn't even respond to simple requests and seemed annoyed by our presence. When we asked for clean plates and glasses, they were all dirty, and the staff even told us to wash them ourselves. The service was horrendous, with staff murmuring under their breath and showing obvious anger.

We ordered a well-done chicken dish, but what we received was raw and undercooked chicken. When we pointed this out, they ignored us and prioritized serving other customers while making us wait for over an hour to recook our meal. To make matters worse, the staff member even told us to go to the kitchen ourselves to pick up our food. The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, displaying a shocking level of attitude and anger throughout our visit.

On top of all this, they charged us a 15% holiday surcharge, even though the service was abysmal and the food was subpar. The entire experience left us feeling unwelcome and mistreated. I would rate this place a minus 10 if I could.

If you're considering dining at Nandos in Rotorua, my advice is to steer clear. The staff's behavior, the dirty dishes, the undercooked food, and the blatant racism make this restaurant a complete disaster. Avoid...

Very unfortunate that I have to give Nando's this rating as I usually like the chain's food and customer service. Last night we went to Nando's Rotorua and ordered three whole chickens at which point we were advised that they did not have three whole chickens and this was at 7 pm on a Friday night. Although disappointed, we didn't make a fuss of it and ate at another outlet. Tonight we once again went to Nando's and ordered the three chicken at 6:20 pm. Once again, to our surprise, we got the same response as the night before and got told that they could not do three whole chickens even though the restaurant was full of customers. At this point I expressed my extreme frustration and disappointment and asked the staff member whether Nando's actually did serve chicken? After checking with another couple of people she advised me that they could do three chicken but not for another half an hour and that in the meantime she could give us the side dishes to keep us busy which we politely declined. As we were limited in the number of options we had, we decided to wait for the half hour and eventually our chicken did arrive however, after receiving the same response twice in a row Nando's either need to make sure that they have enough supplies to last them on a busy Friday or Saturday night or otherwise close shop when they cannot serve and provide the food that they're in...

"How grilled chicken should be!"

Peri-peri is a chain restaurant that offers great grilled chicken cooked according to your desired spicy level.

What really sells it for me is their attention to the quality of their food. They marinate their chicken for atleast 24 hours before grilling and they cook it just right, avoiding the chicken to get dry.

Their Rotorua, New Zealand branch has a great ambience just like any other Peri-peri restaurant. Its clean, bright, and well ventilated.

A whole chicken with with one large side costs $32.50. You can have half and half flavors which is great. Their whole chicken is roughly 8 slices which feeds up to 2-3 hungry hungry hippos!

Advice: get the non-spicy flavors for the chicken, they've got sauces on the side that you can get which they also use for cooking. This way you can control as to how spicy your chicken will be and not ruining the whole experience if by getting the hottest level.

Why the 4 stars? They dont have enough staff. It was dinner rush when we got there and they only got 1 front of house staff which also doubles as a waiter and cashier. This just tells something about the management. This also puts too much pressure on that one staff and increases the chances of subpar performance. A 5-star restaurant should not just have good food but also should have...

I went to go for a late lunch with my partner, and I thought we would try Nando's as the other restaurants in the area were in this crossover period between lunch and dinner. We went in, grabbed some seats, and did their order over the phone online. The food took over 20 minutes to come out. They'd mixed up the meals and forgotten my drink, so we had to re-arrange them ourselves, which was fine. My partner's burger was cold, so I went up to the counter and explained to them exactly that. The man on the counter replied, "So what would you like me to do about it?" with an attitude. He then asked me if I'd like a new one or heated up, we had the burger returned to us with no apology given. This restaurant was infested with birds galore, chirping and nesting in the ceiling beams, flying in and out of the restaurant as they knew the way in and out. As we ate our lunch, we watched them pick at food that hadn't been taken away. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This restaurant should be reported to the Ministry.
