Joe's Garage — Restaurant in Canterbury

Was part of a large group but all were served quickly, but never rushed. I got the large chips as a starter for us few at our end of the row and turns out no one wanted chips so had to go it alone best I could. Chips came with tomato sauce, aoli (I think? Never tried it because I had some of the) gravy, oh the gravy, get some gravy, awesome gravy. One bad thing about the gravy is it made me eat too many chips and by the time my main arrived, the Johnny Cash Stash, I was near full so didn't eat much of it. Tried some of all that was on my plate though and thought it delicious. A decent piece of juicy chicken breast, near perfect wedges and rabbit food which wasn't too bad at all. What was left went into a doggie bag and was eaten about 20 mins ago. The service and bar staff were courteous and friendly and the establishment has toys for the kids to play with. Went for breakfast. Extremely disappointed. Ordered the jose burrito and requested the vegetarian option. For what I thought was a bean burrito there was possibly 1tbsp of beans. Thinking that the vege version was just removing the bacon. They instead filled it with mushrooms, without a mention. Mushrooms weren’t on the list and personally I don’t like mushrooms so immediately half the meal is redundant. The “smashed spuds” were just awful. Obviously fried earlier then deep fried again. I didn’t see anything smashed. Just chunks of potato badly cooked. There was zero flavour other than the taste of deep fried oil. I barely noticed the egg in there. My partner ordered mushrooms and bacon. The bacon was so over cooked that she had to return it. I think it was one of the worst breakfasts...

I will never step foot in this place again. I was the first of 3 to dine for lunch. I had already ordered my drink before my other guest turned up. The waitress came over took their drinks order and didn't come back , when I asked her where their drinks were she snapped back and said I'm taking the other tables order first and that shes the only waitress, I had obviously upset her by my enquiry and by her on going behaviour which was soon to became a joint game with another staff member. It made our dining experience very uncomfortable by both. slamming chairs into tables, giving us disgruntled looks and making remarks to one another and laughing . I almost got the feeling that I shouldn't eat the food they served has I would probably get more than I bargin for. Very...
