Timaru Roast — Restaurant in Canterbury

Was so disappointed and disgusted by the cook this evening. Came in to get dinner for me and my daughter . I ordered her some nuggets and watched the lady try block the view of the man cooking the meals out the back. He dropped one of the nuggets on the floor that was dirty , talked to the lady about it and picked it up and put it back in the fryer basket and continued to put it in the packaging. When we were handed out meal I questioned the lady about it and she acted like nothing happened. Needless to say it was disappointing as this place is usually really good and I normally would recommend. Whilst waiting for my daughter's food I watched the man out the back repeatedly touch his face and mouth area and not wash his hands. Common food saftey? As a visitor to Timaru I hope there are other roasts shops around to go to as I will never go back. A medium pork roast which is mostly vegetables and little meat with a dash of apple sauce and crackling not cooked completely and very salty all for $19.50 is a complete rip. Edit, june 2025. This place has gone downhill really fast. 3 meals, the meat in all of them was chewy and inedible, even the lamb was chewy blobs. Only decent thing was the vegetables. I honestly didn't know lamb could be THAT BAD! The dogs ate well. . . . . What a shame it cost so much for a substandard meal.
